I like the looks of the rear brake duct grills but do the non functional grills that attach with tape look cheap....Thanks
If you can imagine a word more that makes cheap sound good, then that is how the fake ducts look... hideous comes to mind, grotesque, and the worst of the worst, poser, or ricer... they obviously look fake... any one with a C5 will immediately see they go no where and conclude they are fake... be prepared for a lot of abuse if you ever go to a corvette get together.

You just wanted to post a pic of those molded in ducts ET.........and who can blame you!

I wouldn't do the fake ones either. Some guys on here, have installed the "working" ones, and they are good. The molded ones are even better, but I'm sure you gotta have the bucks for those.
Every time I seem them on a non-Z, the first think I think of is "fake"
I've seen many coupes/verts with functional Z06-style rear brake ducts and I think they look good and as mentioned, are functional, especially for those coupes/verts that have had performance mods, suspension, brakes, etc.
However, the fake, stick on ones do not look nearly as good as the functional brake ducts and you can spot the fake ones very easily.
One of the reasons I bought a 2000 FRC instead of the Z is because of those ugly, in my opinion, rear brake scoops. It looks like at the last minute they said, whoops, we forgot to put these somewhere, lets just lick them and stick them on here.... I know, they are there for a reason but I don't race mine.
Yep IMO they look cheap. Something to think about if you live where it snows they’re going to get trashed quickly with rock chips no matter what time of year it is. I installed new OEM screens 8k miles ago and just today cleaning the car noticed they are already pitted pretty good. I’m kind of picky but others might not care too much.

the above pic that I posted is fake ducts.. mesh was painted in black wrinkle finish...they are not shaped the same as real ducts..I didn't want to cut a hole in my car.....been to a few corvette gatherings.. so far not a single person has said anything bad...of course I ain't no tiny fella either. BUT...FWIW..If you don't mind cutting a hole in your car the real ducts do look better.
Didn't say I did. Heck I'd never make it back in the driveway since I live on a hill. The gravel is on the road all year long which leads to the vents getting trashed.

I think the op is looking for opinions of what people think of the fake ducts. For most people Fake is just that , Fake" I dont think too many people will brag about having fake anything.. and the real cop out is " Oh I dont want to cut into my C5... Why not??? GM did it.. there are thousands of competent shops out there to do this job.. I think the real answer is not only do the ducts look cheap...people who put them on are cheap... not willing to spend the money to have real functional duct put on. I dont want to cut into my car is like saying I will never have a body shop work on my caR. because it would hurt me too much. people constantly look for what is wrong with something. We see it here all the time. The real bottom line though is, Do you care if they are fake or that someoone might think that you are cheap because you put them on.. and will wonder just how many people wont say anything but will forever think that you are cheap or a fake or a poser. Do it right or dont do it at all.. that's how I think but of course you are not me.
You asked for my opinion. You got it... not sugar coated
