I know you guys have probably answered them all, but after searching I couldn't find a answer to my question.
About 2 weeks ago I lowered the front and rear of the car on stock bolts. The front lowered 3/4" just as all the DIY write ups I read said it would. The rear of my car has not moved one bit. It measured 28" then and today it still measures 28".
Anyone have any idea of why this may be?
(yes, I'm sure I turned the nuts)
(yes, I'm sure I turned them the right direction )
Buy two bolts 7" long. you will get your 3/4" drop with plenty of threads left. Buy 4 heavy duty flat washers and two elastic stop nuts to match threads of new bolts. Buy bolts from a good auto parts store such as NAPA. Dont go cheap on any of these materials. ( Good Quality) Very important. Take your old bolt with you to determine correct diameter of bolt. Install with one washer under head of bolt & washer and nut on the top side. Good luck
I would suggest when buying bolts you look for Grade 8 bolts. It's a much stronger bolt than hardware store grade, though you can find them in some hardware stores.
The only risk that you will take in regards to changing out the bolts in the rear are not getting a premium bolt. As stated before, make sure to go to a well known auto parts store such as nappa and get grade 8 bolts, 7" long. Your taking a risk any time you get that nut down that close to the end of the bolt as you have allready done. That is why the stock bolts have a clip on the very end of them, so the nut does not come completely off. That is the reason when changing out to aftermarket bolts to use a heavy duty elastic stop nut on these new bolts. The new bolt will not have the groove cut into the bottom of the bolt to keep the nut from backing off.
You really need to learn the "search "fuction on this forum.
You go to tech, general , or Z 06 and click on the upper right hand side of the page where it says "Search this forum. Once the rectangle box appears type in what you want to know. Example "Lowering A Z 06", or" Lowering", keep typing into that box untill you get the correct posts to come up for what your looking for. Once one learns how to navigate the "Search" function on this forum, there would be no reason to ask the same questions over and over. This is about as simple of a mod, that you will ever do to your car. Good luck.
