i wanna put in 3.42 cause i don't like the 2.73 people tell me to burn out and i can't kinda sad. and doing a stall i don't know anything about this but heard it helps. i use the car mostly on weekends but will be using it more once school starts and would be put away for winter. what is the cost of doing this? approx anyways

3.42 gears around $500 - more if shipped. Install $300-$500. Stall not needed INMO.

Get 3.73's with a 3500 stall

Hardened output shafts

$1,300-1,700

Although 3.42 are much more available and cheaper because MN6 guys
yank them and go with 3.90's or 4.10's

Peace
Chip

Get a used 3:42 rear end, and a astro van stall.
It brings stall up to 2200-2400 rpm If you go with a bigger stall then you have to run a costly trans cooler. Do a search on Mike Mercury and check out his posts and how to pics on this subject

Brendan; "smoking tires" doesn't win races... or give good 1/4 mile times. But yes... I know it is cool to do though

what do you think of this 2002 A4 w/3.42 gears?

that was before my converter upgrade

here's two mods that will really wakeup a C5 A4... but during everyday driving keeps the car feeling like it's still factory stock:
