I know there have been a lot of temperature threads lately, but I tried searching and didnt find a definite answer.
Today, it was about 87F-91F and I had the vette out. I was just driving around ac off, suburban/rural areas - mostly flat, with the exception of one steep hill and a couple small ups/downs, essentially 25mph-50mph areas. I wasnt beating on it at all, had to merge once, in which I got on it but only about 70%. I noticed that the coolant temps were staying at 220F-240F the whole time. The oil temps I saw remained a constant 217F-224F. The tranny temps on my A4 were 200F-205F+. I plan on cleaning the space between the radiator/compressor this weekend. But, that wont help the tranny temps (I dont think). Are these temps normal?
The first thin you want to do is by pass your trans cooler on your radiator. Get your self an independent tranny cooler and have it set up. That will make sure that your transmission cooler does run at lower temps. You do not want your transmission temp higher than around 230*- 240* max. Dextron has a heat index of 300* and it will start to air ate quickly around 240 - 250*. CASE transmission fluid has a heat index of 500* and that is what I use. A little thicker not by much but it will help your tranny out in the long run.
240* of coolant temp is not good at all. 220* is normal 230ish is the hottest you want me you once you get an independent transmission cooler get either a Z06 radiator or something else with no transmission cooler integrated you loose about 10% of radiator capacity with an integrated transmission cooler.
Silly question, but the tranny cooler is integrated in the radiator? If it is, if I clean out the space between the radiator/condenser, maybe that will help a little?
its is a good idea to take the radiator and condensor out and use water and compressed air to blow all the tiny rocks, leaves, and debris out. i had a ton of debris come out. did it 2 weeks ago.

It is integrated like sated above, but it is not the optimal set up you want. I am almost sure that if you where running an independent tranny cooler that you would probably would have never seen 205* for tranny fluid temp..Also remember one thing what ever your gauges read in temp you can be running from 3* to as high as 7* hotter.
My trans temps run 200 to 205 all the time. If you were running to high a temp the DIC would read "HIGH TRANS TEMP"Now I don't know what is high for an A4 but the DIC would let you know.

I saw it last week, about 250F it warned and I got up to 268. I was doing a mountain cruise where it was 95-100 outside, and climbing the mountain at sustained 30mph. My stall is programmed to lockup at 45mph, so my tune was not setup for those conditions. I was fine going down the mountain.

So all the gauges are 3F-7F hotter?
Also, I will be cleaning the radiator/condenser area tomorrow. Could someone tell me how to do it? Also, I will be going to home depot tonight, what should I buy there to make cleaning it easier?
