Ok I am ready for the blasting, but maybe I am just getting to old. I want to see what others think about these LED light kits for the side coves, wheel wells, grills (C6) and other areas. I went to our local Cars & Coffee today and there was a C6 with blue LED's in the grill and the wheel wells, another had LED's in the engine bay. I have seen the cove kits also.
What is the opinion on these, are they acceptable for Corvette's or are they crossing over to the Ricer side? An inquiring mind wants to know.
In my opinion, no further than the cove lights/interior/dash that JW and his gang do
any more than that and you're getting too "fast and furious"

I have to agree with them, also installing all these turned out to be a good way to get my son interested and wanting to get involved with the vette too. Sort of helped bridge the generation gap! He loves the imports!
I never thought of LED's or the Neons as rice because I used to see several old 40's and 50's hot rods at car shows back in the early 80's with neons way before it became popular with imports.
It is more like the import people copied them.
I had a new 86 Fiero in 86 and one of the 1st things I did was have a local shop make me a set of purple neons for it, It was black and had custom purple and pink stripes on it.
I was the 1st person in town to have them and I could not turn them on without getting people pulling me over to ask how I did that. A few years later lots of people had them so I wanted something different. I had the shop make me a set of pink ones and I installed them along with the purple. Hooked them up to a SPDT relay and a old flasher to make them alternate. I found I could change the speed of the flash by hooking up a resistor to a dimming switch and when I turned the dimming switch it added or took away power to the resistor which made the old mechanical flasher speed up or stop completely.
I would never tell people how I did that. I had tons of hot rodders at the Grand Rod Runs in Pigeon Forge TN, asking me about how to do that on their cars.
This was way before any of the ricers around here even thought of lighting mods.
I also had a high pressure fuel pump hooked up to a 3 gallon water jug under the hood (fiero had rear engine and hood was storage and spare tire) then ran a small hose and nozzle hidden under the front and could hit a button and squirt water 50 feet at a nice arc. I had a blast sitting on the side of the road facing a sidewalk and hitting the button right before people walked in front of it. It was like one of those pranks you see on TV shows sometimes I never hit anyone with it and 99% of the people got a kick out of it.
Before that I had an old Buick with a 350 in it with a carburetor. I had a hose ran through the top of the breather with the pump hooked up to a jug full of transmission fluid with just enough gas mixed in to thin it out. I would be going down the road and in second gear running pretty high RPMs and hit the button and you could see nothing behind but smoke. That was fun with tailgaters too.

We all have different tastes and I see nothing wrong with adding whatever you want though.
I could see leds under the hood being pretty cool at night. That stock underhood lamp is pretty lame and adding some cool leds will just show off what you have under there.
A small exterior LED strip up under the handle, tied into the interior lighting circuit so they are only on when the doors are open or you hit the unlock button on the FOB;
Lighting up the Door Reflectors is a good one too, and should;ve been done by GM IMO;
