Default Tight Steering

During a corvette club race day we had recently where our club hired a fully sanctioned professional race track here in New Zealand, my C5 experienced a sudden tightening of the steering. This occured after the track dried from earlier drizzle and our speeds round the track where getting quite high. It was very difficult to turn and on leaving the car in the pits for an hour there was no change.
However moving it at the end of the day to attempt a drive home it suddenly seemed to free its self and has been fine ever since.

Does anyone have any idea what caused this? the fluid level was fine and there was no leaks.

You may be having an issue with the variable rate steering system. its an electronic system, so not out of the question to wear out. It might have gotten stuck on low steering assist after the driving, due to the extra stress put into the system. did it throw a code?

Might need a power steering fluid cooler if you plan on many track days.
