Default Side Cove screen question...

Who makes the best ones out there?
I don't want them to fall out after 50 miles, and does anyone have instructions on how to properly mount them? Thanks!

Most of the screens come with tape to mount them, After about 6 months mine came loose and I cleaned the heck out of the inside, What I ended up doing is I used sillycone (is that a word?).lol to mount them and they are rock solid, I would check with come of the vendors like C5Bears Fan (DDMODS), He might have some to offer.

I cleaned mine before attaching with the alcohol pads many times but they came loose as well and I ended up attaching them with a few drops of hot glue. It has been 5 years and they are still tight, silicone would also be a good way to attach them .

Yeah don't even waste your time with that tape. It won't stick long.

Any of them will look good.

Who makes the best ones out there? You will have to pick the ones that you like best. They are made in Stainless Steel, Chrome, Black, Polished, Matt and different patterns. Here is a good thread with information and pictures so you can look for yourself.

Don’t use the tape or you will have to do the job a second time.
Instructions:
1. Remove the front wheel
2. Remove the access panel
3. Test fit the screens (adjust as needed)
4. Clean the area where the silicone will be applied
5. Apply the silicone and the screens
6. Use something to hold them in place overnight (I used wooden dowel rods cut snugly to length and placed between the screen and the finder)
7. Make sure that you get them where you want them as they will not move when the silicone is dry.
8. Put it all back together

I like the ones from The Vette Shop. They dont have the heavy clear plastic blocks screwed to the screen with the sticky tape applied.

The ones from the V/Shop are formed just right & includes the alcohol wipes to clean/prep the area where the tape sets.
Good luck.

We have been selling C5 screen sets on the forum for over 7 years now. Here are a few reviews on our product

09/18/2007: 97-04 SCREENS COMPLETE KIT 6 PIECE SET
Just installed the screen kit and they are a great addition to the vette. I searched for screens and found these to be the best.
07/30/2007: Terrific Kit, awesome price
While others were trying to get $300+ out of their screen kits, the price on Vetteshop.cc was outstanding! I was originally worried that I'd "get what I paid for." After having them on my Vette for over a year, I can testify to the quality of this product. It looks just as great as it did on day one. These things rock!!
04/24/2006: Do You Sell The Grille Inserts
I bought your six piece set and they look and fit great. But I was wondering if you sold the two pieces that fit in the fog light/grille area?
10/07/2005: Full Screen Set for C5
Great quality, fit and PRICE!!!! I had to rebend the 2 exhaust screens due to having installed fiberglass re-enforcement pieces. I'm a happy camper!!
09/26/2005: You Can't Go Wrong!!
These screens are awesome. The price is unmatched! Most catalogs charge you for 2 pieces what VetteShop charges for the whole kit (6 pieces)!! It's a no-brainer!!
05/01/2005: COMPLETE C5 SCREEN SET
After seeing the set that our son installed on his C5, we had to do it too. Great look and shipping.
Lee
03/08/2005: excellent screens
i got my set and they are excellent quality and finish. quick service will recommend them to all my friends !

Lots of vendors sell the screens and IMO they are all pretty much the same. I have had mine installed since last fall and used the supplied double sided tape. They are rock solid and I don't foresee them coming off anytime soon.

If your looking to purchase a set of side screens I have a set never installed. However, I painted them black but decided not to install them. If you want them let me know. I have no idea what they are worth. Then again you may want a virgin set not painted. Just let me know if your interested. BTW: I bought them from Vetteshop.

This is the way to do it right, except you don't have to wait all night for the silicone to set up.

Racemesh makes the best looking (size mesh) product, and in different finishes. The mesh will last forever, hell, you could barbeque on it.
