what type of clip are we talking about? can you see it or is it a fingertip feel thing? pics?

You can see the top of the plug easily. It is a standard plug that has a plastic snap catch. This isn't the plug, but gives you an idea of what it looks like.

I hope it goes out again. That way I can video it. Then I can charge for it. Hell, I may do it just for fun...

you could be much more specific about exactly what tools you used, angle of attack, etc...that might win you a few converts.

or, if it's really that easy then i recommend you do this - turn on the video camera, take the sensor out, put the sensor back in. proof is in the video - you up for the challenge? well, i guess it's not really much of a challenge for a guy like you - only a ten minute job.

come on, only ten minutes of your life to shut me up permanently - you should leap at this opportunity!

... Yeah, if you want to use a hole saw on your C5

Take your time and do it the right way... Pulling the intake manifold will take you a couple hours the first time you do it, but it isn't really all that hard. If you can't find the writeup for how to do it in a search, PM me and I'll find it and send it to you...

If you can spring for it, I'd buy the the relocate kit from one of the forum vendors here, I just had another sender go out and I'm going to relocate mine this time... I think TPE sells a good one (search in the for sale section). That way you only have to do this once.

*** EDIT ***

I went back and actually read the thread this time... ETz: Have you relocated your sender? It kind of sounds like it is in the stock location. I have changed multiple senders in my C5 and I think it would be damn near impossible to do what you say, but I would love to be proven wrong. I just had another one go out on me that I need to replace soon. If you can really do this without pulling the intake (not challenging you to a pissing contest or being sarcastic), please post a video and save the rest of us some time...

I think I will too. I'll probably end up pulling the manifold anyway b/c I'm going to put the relocate kit in, but this may end up saving a lot of people a lot of time...

You just saved my buddy and I from buying new intake manifold gaskets, and possibly sensor relocation kits!

Thank you for posting that!

I remember when I replaced the spark plugs on my 2000 Mustang GT under the Saleen supercharger, everyone said it couldn't be done on all 8 spark plugs and the blower would have to be pulled first to change them. I replaced them 3 times before I sold the car and never had to remove the blower.

bow down?? are you kidding me!
that video has so many cutaways in it that it's impossible to tell what exactly happened or how long it took. look guys, i have 10 minutes to watch a video - why cut it down to less than 5 and leave out all the important part?
what i did see:
a shot of the sensor with plug on top
a shot of the sensor without the plug on top
sticking a socket down in a hole near the sensor.
a shot of the sensor, already removed.
another shot of the socket going back into the hole
a shot of the sensor, already installed with the plug not on it
what i didn't see:
getting the sensor out once you have loosened it.
getting the sensor lined back up in the hole (used your finger???)
putting the cap back on
show me an unedited, no cuts video of a start to finish R&R and i'll be a believer. until then, nope.
maybe you could get a wife/girlfriend/friend to hold the camera so you can really show your stuff!
you're doing good man - don't give up on me now!

I knew you would not be happy. If someone else films all you are going to see is me with my hand down the back of the engine. I stepped up and TRIED to show how to do it, just trying to help you guys.

Now its your turn. Why don't you actually give it a shot before saying it can't be done. Better yet, buy me an airline ticket and I will come out and do it in front of you....If you want to try it yourself I will even send you my fancy coat hanger (free of charge)

Thanks for posting the video. I will probably attempt this on a buddy's car this weekend. The only part I'll add is to torque the sensor with a torque wrench.

Hi There,
Great job.
I would like to know what keeps the sender from falling out of the socket during the removal & during the install. Is the socket lined with rubber or did you use the tooth pick trick?
