Ok I am having problem with my c5 .[I] put oil in and is still alittle low and when I started it and drove about a mile the oil gage went up to 80 and it is uaslly at 40 ,Any idea as to what I need to look at?
Sounds like the sensor. 30 bucks for a good one at O'Reilly ( installed two of them on two different C5s, no problems) Easily replaced with a socket and swivel without removing anything.

If you don't mind cutting a hole that is.... or just remove the intake.

I would like more info on how to do this without removing the intake.
Thanks.

If you pull the Drivers side engine cover, you can see the top of the sensor. There is a small triangle void formed in the rear by the shape of the intake manifold. I was able to easily access the sensor with a deep socket and universal joint. It was literally a 10 minute job. Maybe I just got lucky.

so, to be clear, you reached down there, pulled the plug off the top of the sensor, snaked a 1-1/16 deep socket on some kind of swivel down there, loosened the sensor, retrieved it, sent the new sensor down there, lined it up, got the thread started, tightened it up with that big azz deep socket again, and reattached the plug on top - in ten minutes. right?
dude, i've looked at it. yes, i can see the plug on the top of the sensor, but i can't reach it with anything except something that might pull the wires loose forever. i held the socket up to that triangle void you speak of and i see no way you could see what you were doing once that thing is between you and the sensor. i am not a believer.

i gotta call
Don't knock it until you have tried it. It was not bad. I could not figure why people actually pulled the intake to do this. 1st- the connector comes off very easy, once you pop the clip. That is done with a curved pick. I don't think that all the people who have done the relocation mod, removed the intake first. 2nd-you don't need to see the sensor "Use the force" 3rd- If you would rather pull the intake off, that's fine. I just know what I did. Maybe I am gods gift to oil sensor replacements.
I need to do this also, I will definately not remove anything, if it is in fact possible to get it done in such a way, the force is strong with me... I'll post a thread w/ pics if I succeed, I'm a HUGE supporting member of the duct tape/JB weld/crazy glue/ghetto-rig everything fanclub but no thx on the vette...
After being called out..I decided to revisit my repair. The only thing I would add, depending on where your clip on the sensor is pointing (i.e. how tight the sensor is) may cause some difficulty. If the clip is facing away from you (its pointing towards the passenger side) use a coat hangar or similar fancy tool to pop the clip while lifting up on the connector.

Most likely the oil pressure sending unit is going/gone bad. I've got some Word files that detail the replacement and/or relocation procedure for the sensor. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.

I do believe that if you actually did what you said you did, you are the first person in C5 history to pull this off, and you will become a legend. Seriously. Youtube the proces and you will instantly be famous. I swear
Had the same problem with my '00 C5 and had it repaired at the Chevrolet dealer in Derry, NH. Said they would have to pull the intake manifold off, etc., but when I picked it up, they told me they were able to get to the sensor without pulling the manifold. They charged me the same price as if they had pulled the manifold, with the exception of the gaskets.
The Chevy mechanic apparently reads the Forum for info on Vettes, huh?
I have a buddy with an oil pressure sensor out on his 02 Vert, I will DEFINITELY give this a shot when we try to replace it for him. We were going to buy the CNC'ed relocation kit.
