Well with some advice from some of my fellow forum members me and my 20 yo son decided to drive the C5 to Carlisle. It was about a 2200 mile round trip but not as far as some that drove from California. We got there at about 6:30 pm on Thursday and went to the event about 7:30 am on Friday. We stayed until about 5:00 pm and I think I about killed my son from all the walking we did. We had a great time, had my car tuned by ECS and they did a great job so I highly recommend using these guys. Met up with some other forum members for a photo op and dinner that night, really enjoyed meeting Gary and his lovely wife and Tim and his lovely wife also. We had a great time, spent way to much money but met some great people. If we ever drive again I WILL NOT drive the 16 hour trip back home at one time I was about dead by the time we got home. My son drove about 2 hours of it and slept the rest, we will break it up into a two day drive like we did going up there. Just though I would share my first experience with you all just in case you are on the fence about going we had a blast.
it took me longer to get around the round-about and into the fairgrounds than it did to get to that point from home. i was at ecs at about 7:45 or so, and i agree, good people to deal with.
Glad to hear about your having a safe round trip and a good experience.
I really enjoyed myself there. I'm only a few hours away, so I was able to drive back and forth each day. So I logged about 1/3 of mileage that you covered.
made the trip from Texas 3 times and enjoyed each one, last time 2006, time to go again next year I combine with vacation along way and see old friends in other states.
Hi There,
Glad to hear you people had a great time. You meet some pretty nice people from all over the usa. I live 50 miles east of Carlisle. Btw: Friday was a free admission day for military personnel with proper id.

I live about 3 hours away so the trip isn't too bad. This was my 20th straight year. I didn't spend too much money although my wife nearly wiped me out with the jewelry lady (Shirley Goldsmith) under the grandstand. She was happy and that made a good time for me. A lot of my club goes so it turned out to be a 3 day social event also. Also saw a lot of my friends from all over the country. It's an event I look forward to with mixed feelings. Although it's a great event it also signals the unofficial end of summer.
I been there the past 2 years and I fly to Baltimore and rent a car and drive up to Carlisle instead. It's too far for me to drive (from Dallas/Fort Worth area) but 1 year I might take the whole week off and drive up to Carlisle. If you are a corvette owner you gotta go to Carlisle at least once !

That jewelry Lady is in the right business if that is her real last name!
It was a pleasure meeting you and your son. He will remember this trip and will without doubt make the trip in his own vette someday soon. Too bad he wasn't able to drive the freebee 03Z back.
My Seller, riding shotgun, nearly fell out of their SUV when they caught up with me as we approached Carlisle He left his new C6Z at home. He wasn't expecting to see his Z again. Would have been a great pic to share.
We logged 2700 miles on this one which included Niagara Falls. The only issue was my wife was scammed out of proper change for a 20 by a gypsy team of women at some cosmetic vendor booth. Didn't hear abt it till we had left there. Oh yeah, another issue was my new Garmin NAV which put me off course. I will verify by map next time I take a trip.
