got a letter today from gm stating that some 2004 model year vettes may have fuel leak at the quick connectors that are used to link the left and right fuel tanks. anyone else get this letter? and if you have already paid to get this repair done it has a reimburstment form along with it.. just thought id throw this out here i case someone has already paid for it. didnt say if it was for all c5's just 2004 model year
If you get the letter then your VIN is in the range of 2004's that may experience the problem. Unless you smell fumes under the conditions stated or find gas puddels under the car after filling it, GM will do nothing. Despite the fact that the batch of cement used to attach the bungs to the tank body for the cross over tube is "KNOWN" bad for the cars in the VIN range, they will do nothing unless you experience the symptoms. So in that sense it is a CYA or really, IMHO, an attempt to keep NHTSA from issueing a recall. ie the cheap way out. Would you expect more from the General?????
R-U bragging??!! Just kidding--isn't it nice when all is good?!
...not bragging just happy...anytime I bragg something chitty happens..for example...I bought a '92 chevy caprice with 29,000 actual miles and in super condition last month and I was telling someone that it only had 29k miles(sorta bragging) and 2 days ago the fuel pump crapped out and I had to have it towed at midnight to the stealership=$450also the Bosecrap rear speakers crapped out...had them rebuilt and the amplifier crapped out(had it rebuilt) right window regulator crapped out(fixed it myself...took 4 hours)and a lot of other stuff that I didn't see before I bought it...but all is well and it is nearing mint condition now...anyway no more "bosting" about anything
I had both fuel tanks and the crossover tube replaced under this bulletin this week,no hassle and zero cost to me.I never got a letter, just checked with the dealership.I opened the complaint with NHTSA,but it was the power of the forum members who got GM to step up to the plate.
