I hooked mine up last night in the driveway - so easy even I could do it (once I got the stocker radio out). And that's saying a lot.
I lusted after all the double din super navigation touch screen sexy hotness, then decided:
1. Mine's a daily driver
2. Double Dins are a lot of cheese to spend on something so easily hijacked
3. I don't really need it....because.....
iPhone has - Google Maps, Pandora radio, iTunes audio and video, internet and a touchscreen - mount and kit was well under $200. And I take it with me when I leave the car.
If joe thief wants my Bose head unit, more power to 'em.
what interface did you use?? I Used the PIE GM AUX10 and it works great. I agree, anyone still using the 12-Disk Changer might as well be using 8-track tapes!!

I used the PXHGM2 cable to replace the 12 disk player in the rear so I didn't have to take the radio out of the dash. It works great and took about five minutes to install.
I did the DD thing a couple of years ago and consider it the best mod to date. Not because of the additional things I can do with it as much as the HUGE improvement in sound.
I removed the 12 disk changer as part of this install to get the additional space in the trunk. My Ipod will hold the equivalent of about10,000 songs or roughly 1,000 CD's.
The ipod adapter is one of the best mods I've done to the car so far. I considered replacing the stock stereo but I don't need all the features of the DD as I just want to listen to music and I don't want the filler that goes around a standard single din head unit. The adapter was the perfect solution.
To use C/D with the factory radio/cassette/12 disc the owner's manual said there is an adapter to put into the cassette player to use the C/D player. Is that needed with this interface? If so where do I find the cassette adapter? When I bought the car it was missing the C/D magazine & cassette adapter.

Same thing here and loving it. 160GB iPod Classic with 27,000 songs to cruise with.
Well, I went to a DD for 2 main reasons, I couldn't stand the looks of the truck Bose radio GM put in the C5 and for some reason, it wouldn't play AM radio (I missed my sports radio). The USB cable seemed like a nice addl feature. After I got it installed and began to download music to the USB, i'm never going back to CDs. I still don't have an IPOD as I don't like to hear music thru headphones but I'm pretty happy with the sound quality of music on my usb compared to CDs...I can't tell the difference.
Oh, for the record, I am listening to a lot more music this summer since my Mets are stinking up the NL East again.
