Had the same issue here in a 2000 Vert. It was the multifunction switch. Naturally the dealer wanted big bucks for the part and said the steering wheel had to come off. Found a new in the box switch on ebay, and a search of this forum will find the link to step by step instructions for changing the switch with the wheel on. It takes about 30 minutes, and involves just taking the plastic off around the steering column and using a 1/4 drive torx tip to remove the screws. Good luck. Jack

tony123 pm if you can't find the write up...I'm sure I have it somewhere.
I removed the switch, checked inside and everything was fine, but when I put it back the situation was the same. The light was still open, there was no dashboard light, and no turn signals. But, I got the high beam lights and, on the first click, instead just day lights I got the low beam. In the end I didn't get anything from the switch, it was even worse. Any other proposition. (i cleaned the ground contacts under the hood and still nothing).
Thanks Guys,
Please help

If the switch goes bad taking it out and looking at it isn't going to fix it. I sure wish it did as this would be a really cheap option but it just doesn't work like that. I know you are hesitant to pay an arm and leg buying a new switch and replacing it without knowing but the only thing you can do free is check all the grounds on the car and the driver's door harness. If it isn't those it is probably the switch. I would listen to the people on the forum who have had the problem. I doubt there are multiple failures that could cause what you are describing to occur.

ok I bought the car about two weeks ago. It came from FL to KY and I was happy until i figured out that the heat doesn't work. The AC was okay and then I figured out that the actuator was bad. The actuator is okay now but when I disconnect and reconnect the battery several times, that crappy thing happened. BZZZZZZ lights up, on the dashboard is the light for the brake, emergency, battery... But no turn signal lights, high beam, and no main dashboard lights work.
One question...when I return the switch, this is what happened, when I made the first click on the handle I got the low beam. The second click was still the low beam but now I have the high beam which I didn't have before. Is it normal on the first click to have the low beam? I didnt have it before. Guys, this is a pain in my sleepless night (3) hahahaha. Please help.
Thanks
My problem started when I couldn't start my car. I hooked up a charger thinking the battery was dead and the headlights popped up and I couldn't turn em off. I took the switch apart and found the problem. The little white wheel inside the switch lost its shape and didn't trigger the circuit correctly. I tried to fix it but it didn't work. I bought a new switch and everything works fine. When I had the switch out, I started the car and the lights turned off. I could have actually driven it without the switch in.
