Default Storage Tips

This will be the first winter season I have had my corvette. I will be storing her from October through March. So is there anything I need to do other than make sure it is topped off with gas and add some Sta-bill to it. I have a cover and plan on renting a storage unit for a few months....wifes Pilot gets the garage in the winter.

What part of the country are you from? Don't let your battery freeze. Either take it out or put a battery tender on it.

I'm going to add a can of Techron Plus to mine too!

Well I don't think it gets Minnesota cold here in WV, but we do have a few sub zero lows show up from time to time. Battery removal is a good idea. I assume this doesn't play havoc with any of the electronics???.

So the stabill with a can of Techron Plus will be added to the fuel.

Thx for the reply!!

If you can get gasoline w/o ethanol your fuel will 'last' longer when stored. Put a few extra lbs. in the tires and drive on to four pieces of Styrofoam. You'll be amazed at the depth of the tire treads after a few months. None of this is scientific or proven to do anything. Just makes you feel better. Change oil B/4 storing the car and don't start it again until Spring.

My end of season routine:

Fill tank (add stabil)
Change Oil/Filter
Full detail inside and out
Park on carpet squares
Put on battery tender
Cover it

Look foward to March when the car is brand new again! I am also one of those guys who likes to start my car once a month during the winter. I let it get the oil above 180 to burn off all the moisture.

to the OP I wouldn't remove the battery for long storage. Just buy a battery tender from napa, pep boys or auto zone. They sell name brand tenders from $39 to $59. Best $$ you will spend.

When I lived in New England I did an oil and filter change just before storage… poured in an appropriate amount of gasoline stabilizer… topped off the fuel tank… then I would get my stored vehicle’s tires off the cement floor by driving her up on four cut and beveled pieces of 1 X treated plywood… hook her up to the battery tender… then put her to sleep under a soft cover.

That worked for me.
