Default brake fluid change question

I have a question and I'm sorry if its really dumb but it won't be my first or last on here. Regarding the brakes on my 02 Z; when should I plan on changing the fluid? I have new pads all around (went with gm original instead of upgrading) and rotors but I just feel the pedal should be a bit firmer. My car has just over 35k and I'm the 2nd owner. The brakes aren't "bad" per se, I just they could be a bit firmer in the pedal. Does this seem like a fluid change symptom or am I just being picky?
Oh and I searched but couldn't find good details. Thanks all as always

I would recommend a fluid flush and a set of stainless lines to compliment your new brake job...at 35K, it's not out of the question. Should get you the pedal pressure you're looking for. You may need to bed your pads as well...

Exactly how does one bed the pads? I've heard the term before but never looked into it.

I'll be installing brakes on my 72 and do the fluid process on it so i may just continue learning and do it for the Z at the same time. I've never bled the brakes before so i was a bit curious/cautious.

HERE is a list of bedding procedures from different brake parts manufacturers I found at tirerack.com
I couldn't find one specifically for GM pads, but if you read through this, you'll get the idea: be gentle on your brakes for the first 500-1000 miles, and try to avoid too much heat build-up.

I wrote a little procedure on it. Brake feel is WAY better with SS lines !
