Here's another free solution for you that no one has mentioned yet:
If you look down at the latch, you'll see the latch spring (small silver rod with a slight bend) that pushes against the striker. Bend it upwards a little bit with a pair of pliers. You only have to bend it a very, very, TINY amount.
I did this months ago and my trunk has been opening all the way every time since.
