Well its about that time for me as well.... I have a 2000 FRC with 76K on the clock. I have a new set of Bilstein's sports and a set of Hotchkis sway bars sitting my garage.

The stock bar is about the diameter of your thumb. Z-51's are consideralbly bigger diameter. Early C-5's also have rubber lnks on the sway bars. they look metal, but ain't.
I think you mean the end links and they are platic not rubber. The bushings are rubber though.

I ordered the 2010 C6Z Shocks from Gene at GMPARTSHOUSE and man what a difference!!!
My 99 Vert (with 56k miles) orginally felt like I was driving an old '73 Caddy, where every bump I hit the car floated all over the place. These shocks made a big difference and are not too harsh! And I have not replaced any sway bars or bushings. I did tho replace the end links to metal just as a precaution, so I don't know if that made any difference.

Why the Z's and not Billsteins, etc.? I do not track my car and figured these would more than suffice. For the price you cannot beat it!

Also, the lower shock tubbing on the new Z's looked to be about twice as thick as the original shocks.

If you’ve been contemplating on doing this mod…go for it!

I followed McRats step by step instructions (including the Corona ) and it went as smooth as silk! One thing to note is make sure you have a good torque wrench!!!!! Would you believe I snapped the lower rear shock bolt because of an old uncalibrated torque wrench! At 160+ Ft Lbs you would of thought I shot off a gun when that puppy snapped. Lesson well learned!
