Default rough idle at startup

Hi folks - when I start the car, the car idles rough for the first 10seconds then it runs right. no codes. It only occurs first start of the day.

I just picked up a new valley cover - so I hope the rough idling is due to oil in the throttle body.....

Check these threads. They have a lot of good info for the same problem.

thanks Rohan

well tonight I installed new valley cover. I took it for a good run down the highway to clear out some of the oil (I found a puddle in the throttle body, and when I removed the intake manifold, I found oil near the intake ports.) probably explains why it only idled rough for the first 10 seconds in the morning. I will post the outcome tomorrow after a cold start.

Well i just did a cold start up (ambient temp is 15 (60 degrees F))

The issue is 99% no longer there. Barely a hint. I still intend to change out the fuel filter this weekend.

There was alot of oil last night in various places when i had removed the valley cover. I continue to run the pcv as there didnt seem any noticible difference when i blew into the tube (2.5mm orfice) - however there was huge difference not using pcv valve - for the worse

MAF? Is this the mass air flow sensor? With rubbing alcohol? Brake cleaner? It looks really fragile......

Mass Airflow Sensor...

Just shoot it with brake/carb cleaner and let dry.

You are correct, the wire is fragile, no need to touch it

Peace

bump! I still have the initial issue of rough idleing when starting the car.

I did clean the MAF extremely well. Issue is still there.
