2001 vert A4.
I changed my diff fluid when I replaced the drivers side seal that was leaking. I used Mobile 1 synthetic with the LS additive. I've noticed the diff has been getting louder. So tonight I put it up on stands. With the car in N as I turn the rear wheels I hear a squeak that sounds like a tire in a parking deck. The new fluid smells burnt like the old stuff did when I drained it. Should I add the GM additive or do I have a more major problem?
Almost forgot to add that it doesn't pop or anything during slow sharp turns.
Let me ask it a different way. After I changed the diff oil I noticed it seem to be louder. But I also removed the run flats for Hankooks which are quieter. Maybe I'm just noticing new noises b/c of the quiter ride?
This is just a wild question, but have you tried going to a mall shopping lot, (Empty of course) and doing about five or six figure 8's ? Sometimes it will get the new fluid and limited-slip additive up into the clutch packs.
