Default Dreaded "Pull Key..." with Service Column Lock

So spent the weekend dove hunting shot zero birds and then listened to my Red Raiders get embarrassed by Texas on my vette radio. I started the car every now and then to keep it charged. I believe this is the beginning for the next chain of events.

Well, coming home, stopped to pee. Got back in and "pull key wait 10 sec. on DIC... not a problem, had that before, next Service Column Lock (this is new) and 2 MPH fuel cut off. Argggggggg! 50 miles from home. 9 hours in the convenience store parking lot pulling fuses, by-passing recall relay's under bolster. Changing the battery etc

So far....
$120 for new battery
$7 for three Gatorades and a snickers bar.
$20 in gas for my young son in law to bring me tools and a meter.
$23 for Pizza Hut for me and Son In Law
$100 dollars for steaks yet to be paid to friend for bringing a trailer to haul my 2K TR back home.
$65 to order a CLB from vendor
$30 tomorrow for the tuner to come over and get rid of the damn 2MPH BS.
1 wasted day!

Sorry for your great day but it was a self inflicted wound. Everyone who has been on the forum for one week or more should know about the column lock problem. For $ 65.00, including shipping, and 1/2 hour of your time the problem can be taken care of before it happens. And it apparently will happen, eventually. Did mine before I had the problem.

Yep, I had read some on the CLB, but i guess I didn't understand that it would cut off the fuel and knew the column wouldn't lock because it had been modded. That thread is like 51 pages an I thought I would read more when I had time. Did a lot more reading than I wanted on an iphone yesterday. At least if I get tuner to set my fuel cutoff I won't be stranded again.

After reading a few threads and researching some of the archives my first month on the forum I would say that the CLB, DRL housings and the CAGS in that order were at the top of my must fix list for my C5.

Without a doubt that old CLB has the potential to screw you up at what can be the worst time.

The CLB should be a priority item at the top of every C5 owner's must fix list.

Sorry for your grief but you have to be optimistic and think to yourself… it could have been worse.

Good to hear you’re getting it fixed… nice looking Torch Red Coupe.

Add udder cleaning to your list. Simultaneously with this problem, I had water leaking into the passenger foot-well. Looks like it may be condensate, but I washed it right before I left too, so it could be the other drains. Reading around on the forum, this has contributed to the column lock issue too.

I did as well, but even after installing a CLB I still get the "Pull Key" notice every once and awhile. And until I had ECS tune out the 2MPH cut off, the cut off still took place as well.

I'm pretty sure there is a lesson hidden deep with in this thread. Now if only every C-5 owner would learn it..

Had same problems...same solutions....bought CLB and had ECS retune the PCM to get rid of that damn 2 mph crap.

No problems since. Do get the Pull key, Wait 10 seconds message once in a while but nothing ever happens. Just pull key, wait 10 seconds, start it back up and go. No more engine shut off anymore.

Life is good!
