If you buy a used vette how do you know you have the CLB and not the GM temp fix. I know I can turn the wheel so at least it was recalled but I can't tell what has been done.
If you hear a buzz noise after to pull out the key the CL is functioning. I did the bypass on mine and no more buzzing on shutdown and i can free turn the wheel
I know this sounds dumb but how dose the clb work it won't mess with my performance tune will it?
It feeds a voltage to the computer that simulates the column unlocking. Most importantly, the dumb GM fix (for legal reasons) which turns off the fuel is inhibited.
So if you hear the buzz when you turn it off, no CLB just the GM fix?
Mine has the "buzz" but had the GM fix.. I just ordered my CLB today from Corvettes of Houston.
There are so many here that know everything regarding the C5 issues.. I trust them WAY MORE than the local guys at the Chevy Dealer.
Order a CLB TODAY! I hope to see mine arrive before the end of the week. I talked to a very nice young lady named Kathy at Corvettes of Houston and she had quite a bit to say about doing the install and offered help (over the phone) if I had any snag on install day.. She says it shouldnt take more than an hour.
Best of luck... I hate walking and Im sure I will sooner or later if I don't do this "FIX"
