Yes it is his car he can do whatever. But I think it is stupid to put stuff on your car and advertise it as something its not. There was a guy back here who had either a v6 or z28 and he had cobra emblems on it. Seems to be quite common in the ricer crowd especially the 350z/g35 crowd. Ive seen a bunch of those cars with skyline emblems. They might be foolin the uninformed crowd but to the people who actually know you come across as a tool.
Nah, it doesn't bother me at all. Sometimes we do things to our cars that we regret and change later. As long as he's not trying to pass it off as the real thing, it's ok with me.
That's a tough question. If the car is probably as fast or faster than a Z06 I say do what YOU like. If it's a 6 cylinder camaro don't put Z28 emblems on it. There are alot of CLONE shelby mustangs, yenko camaros, hemi cuda's, etc.... As long as they are representative of those cars I think most car guys can respect them, unless of course you own the real deal, which many of us cannot afford. I have a frc and I don't think I would ever get away with having a pewter Z06.

He says it "is" a Z06 because it has everything a Z06 has. ??

I'm trying to give this guy the benefit of the doubt but if he's saying that, he's a moron and you can't argue with a moron. If he's saying it's a copy or a clone, or just as good or as fast as a Z06, I don't have a problem with that.
There are a couple of forum members that have taken Z-06's and modified them into convertibles.
I have nothing against modifying it into a convertible. More power to them! Passing it off as something it isn't, well ...

Now with the badges it is hard to make the argument that it is an upgraded part for performance or styling, so I might give you that one.
I'm with you as far as the Z06 seats being more comfy. I much prefer hubby's Z seats to mine. I have no problem with the floor mats either. The badges, however ...
doesn't bother me at all. if he tried to sell it as a Z06, that'd be different. i don't even car if he claims it has all the Z06 parts. i've seen people do A LOT worse to cars that put a badge on them that bothered me a lot more. i say just enjoy that you work with another Corvette guy. (unless he's a dick, then keep bashing him).
Look at it this way. Aside from the stock motor upgrades that HE didn't do or may have done (after market air cleaner, bigger trottle body etc), if he replaced the sway bars with Z06 ones, install Z06 rims & tires, some how removed some interior stuff to reduce weight, he has a close copy of a Z06 and maybe feels he has accomplished his goals of making his coup a Z06. It's his, let him do what he wants. Just smile and accept, he may not like your hair style. We all have our styles... In Russia he would be shot.. I've been to many vette shows and have seen Wow's to WTF, I don't comment on the WTF, I just make a mental note not to ever do that on my ride..
Hey,I put new C-5 flags on the back of Bucwheat and took the old one and stuck it on the back window of my F-350 diesel crewcab Dually, made a few ford people mad. Why did you put that Chebbie crap on a Ford.............because I can.
Okay,
I guy at my work has a 99 FRC that has a H/C package and a built rear end, Z06 replica wheels along with a bunch of other mods. He PURCHASED it this way. Since buying it, he has added a few chrome things here and there around the car and today I pulled into work and he had "Z06 405 hp" emblems on it. I understand each enthusiast has there own taste, but Z06 badges? Do FRC owners do this often? I understand it is a FAST car, probably more than a stock Z06 but the fact he put Z06 badges on the car really bugs me. Does it annoy you guys, or is it just me, yes or no?
annoy me????? yes, cheezy????????????also yes (in my opinion) however the bottom line is it's his car and if likes it that way..............his purogative just keep it in mind and consider giving him a string of those tijuana taxi ***** to string around his interior for his next birthday!

Watch Barrett-Jackson and some of the old muscle car "clones" that come across their stage.
Well in that case maybe I just need a zr1 emblem for my vette, and a duramax emblem for my 6.0 2500hd and overnight they will transform into an awesome supercar and an awesome diesel.
Pewter z06, and he's claiming its the real deal
It must have been sent special order overnight from Japan
By the way I have owned a clone, a 65 shelby gt350 mustange clone, I never claimed it to be what it wasn't, I never got a bad remark about it, and there is no way I could have afforded the real deal, the car was a project for me and my dad. In some cases it can be okay, the money being thrown at clones on Barret-Jackson says so, but it other cases just don't do it.
