Okay,
I guy at my work has a 99 FRC that has a H/C package and a built rear end, Z06 replica wheels along with a bunch of other mods. He PURCHASED it this way. Since buying it, he has added a few chrome things here and there around the car and today I pulled into work and he had "Z06 405 hp" emblems on it. I understand each enthusiast has there own taste, but Z06 badges? Do FRC owners do this often? I understand it is a FAST car, probably more than a stock Z06 but the fact he put Z06 badges on the car really bugs me. Does it annoy you guys, or is it just me, yes or no?

I have '99 FRC and I like it for what it is. It's not a Z06 & I don't pretend it to be...but...that's just me.

I really like the "real Z06's" and it would probably bother me some to see an owner portraying his as the real thing. However, there is a lot of cloning out there, especially in the early muscle, Camaro's, Mustang's, etc.

He can do what he want's, it's his car & that's probably how he looks at it. JMO

Well, why don't you puncture all 4 of his Runflats tomorrow with an ice pick? KIDDING!!

Relax!! No, it does not bother me. So he's got a clone Z06. So what? You know it; now we know it. To semi-quote the Hollies' song, "He's not heavy, he's our brother".

What really bothers me is the Mustang guys that always wanna race............

Yeah, "his car he can do whatever he wants" has ALWAYS worked for me until I saw the Z06 badges.

ahhh that's where I can get him, I will pop the tires and see if they are runflats Why would someone make a Z06 clone, why not get some customized badges I guess would be my thinking. If I invested a ton of money into my FRC I wouldn't want someone to think it was just another Z06 by adding badges to it.

I always thought the goal was to create a so-called, "sleeper"...a car that looks innocent until you jam the foot to the floor.

Maybe he's like the old pilots that put a swastika on their plane when they shot a German down. I'm guessing the stang driver raced and beat a 79 Vette.

I know a couple of guys who have those, you'd never know the power from looking at the outside.

Now that's bad, not even a GM product.

I've seen a Trans Am with C5 Cross Flags on the "pilars." Like maybe an 87/88 Trans Am. Even that's outrageous, but still, their car, have at it.

The frc was a Z06 option. Look in his glove box it will say Z06.

Theres a guy here in town that did the same thing-shortly after that totaled it-his rollbar made of exhaust pipe covered with foam didn't help much when he flipped it in the median. He now drives a SUV...

There are a couple of forum members that have taken Z-06's and modified them into convertibles.

It is his car and if thats the way he wants to personalize his car then I am happy for him just remember he is still a part of what we all call the corvette friendship/family no matter the year, mods or condition is the way I look at it, everyone likes there own personal touch as well as myself. Personally I like the clean look of the FRC better, but the Z06 is a bad car for sure but was built off of our FRC model. waving at you all.
