Hello all, I've had my 02 Z (Silver on Red) for two years now and have managed to keep it stock for the exception of a blackwing intake, b&m short throw and Baer cross drilled rotors. I love my car, but It's time for some change. I've toyed with the idea of selling and getting something else, but I can't think of anything better except a new Z (cant justify expense w/family). So anyway, I have come to the conclusion of modifying. Thats where you guys with the know come in. I would like to add wheels (looking at HRE or CCW) and a cam/longtube swap. What size do you guys suggest on the wheels? I've seen 18/19, 19/20 and even 20/20; any suggestions/feedback? What about the cam? I would like mid 400 rwhp; how can I accomplish this and keep my car streetable and non-temperamental? I'd appreciate any advice.

Mid 400rwhp is hard with just a cam. I would suggest a set of American Racing headers, and an England Green Mayhem II cam. One of the biggest gains and fun factor is a set of gears. 3.90's will really compliment a bigger cam. Streetable is in the tune.
Thanks for the advice. I realize It will take more than just a cam to get into the mid 400s, but can I get close without having to go forced induction or extreme modifying. What kind of numbers can I realistically get with cam/longtube/tune.

Depending on the size of the cam looking at 410-440rwhp
Your final numbers will depend alot on the dyno/operator you choose. Some tuners may get a little optimistic with the numbers they achieve. I recommend caution on cam selection, as it will have serious ramifications on your enjoying your car, down the road. Some of us have modified our cars so much, that they're not as much fun to just drive around in. In my own case, I've got an car that I've put only 17k miles in almost 8 years of ownership. I'm currently thinking of raising the car up for some more ground clearance, even though it doesn't look as good. I will admit, I may be enjoying mine more, when I get it tuned with the blower cam I just installed. It doesn't lope as much, but the big difference is now, it doesn't stink nearly as much with the milder cam.

Reason: to add cam info
Being in a similar budget spot myself as a new father I suggest getting polished stock wheels for cheap on exchange, lower a little makes a difference and then adding a modest cam , headers, and mail order tune.
Get the parts used or for a deal in the sale section here... saves lots off retail.
Thanks all for the advice. I live in south Texas and I'm considering calling LG Motorsports to see what kind of package I can get. Does anyone know of any other good shops that I could call to get good work and price. I'm thinking of just going with the cam headers and tune for now.
^ You'll get piece of mind with a shop, but you'll surely pay for it.
If you post in the regionals you might find a known gearhead who can save you a lot even when it comes to buying parts. The mail tune is pretty close and is only $150, where the typical dyno tune is $400-$650. It all adds up.
It's nice to have options with these cars. Try to learn when the work is done.

Call England Green in Houston. Stephen and Jason are on the forum, with cam, header, blower packages. Best guys around and the only people that touch my cars. I wouldn't go cheap on a cam package/install/tune. Make sure whoever you chose, they have a good reputation.
I guess I'll call both shops and see what they say. Thanks.
I don't think you can go wrong with either. There are a few shops in San Antonio. I have used them, and was not satisfied at 2 of them. Here is a little info on EG's cams. My dyno is somewhere in there. 435/405 to the wheels with a cam and stock heads/intake.

With OBX Headers (customer supplied), a FAST 102 and our C-Cam one of our customers made 43x hp and 39x tq. Although it was a 6.0 I feel that you would be close to those numbers with the same mods.
From: Wylie TX --> Less is More, except under the hood !
Go to England Green and have him put on a blower. That will give you all the usable power you will need (~500 wheel HP). He has a great deal for a ProCharger fully installed around $6400. You can later remove it and put back to stock easier than heads/cam.

Don't forget about 19/19 wheels...
Toque
Talked to Stephen from England Green and it sound like supercharging is the way to go. Great price for out the door package just won't leave me with any money for wheels I'll let you guys know what route I'll take; will post pics. Thanks again for the advice

Can't go wrong with that!
My A&A kit is at the shop waiting for my soon to be c6 purchased car to come in. I wouldn't worry about wheels, just get a nice set of tires for the time being to help with your traction issues.

I agree, supercharging is the most gain for the money, and it's upgradable. Did Stephan mention anything about clutches, in your discussion? You're gonna need a new one, I'm afraid.

Id go HEAVILY on this guys advice. Yea cams like MS4, etc. and all give high dyno numbers (depending on tune and whos tunning) however with me...and as i tell others, what are your intensions with the car. Its not always about the highest numbers. I know plenty of guys running smaller cams that make less power than that of those with larger ones and enjoy their car alot more....ha and the funny thing is, the guys with smaller cams dont run much slower times....if at all. Its all in the setup.
