Default Got may Azz kicked today!

By my caliper bolts! Started on my left rear trying to loosen the bolts with no luck, frozen. I'm laying on the ground, car is on jack stands, and I can get no leverage, even after Break Free and my breaker bar it wouldn't budge.

Next week I'll have access to a lift and pneumatic tools but if anyone has some suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Ugh man I know the feeling. My front lowering bolts wont budge. Even 2 cans of PB blaster didnt help. Cant say I had an issue with my calipers though, good luck.

I think I just attached the socket and gave it a good wack with a hammer to free it up, then it was cake work.

Did have a blonde moment with the rear rotors....forgot to disable the e-brake.

I've used a hammer to tap on a socket wrench before to help loosen a difficult bolt. Might work for you.

Im having visions of 1981 under my 66 Vette when the bolt came loose at the wrong moment and I smacked myself in the facewith the wrench.. Broke off my front tooth! I actually saw stars and chirping birds, just like in the cartoons! Be careful! 29 years of a capped front tooth.. ugh!

I usually add a pipe to extend the length of the breaker bar. Gives you much more leverage.

It helps if you can get it where you can REALLY lean and put your weight on the breaker bar. Helps if you add a cheater bat!! They are real ball busters!! If I recall correctly,,besides a ton of torque,,they have a lock-tight substance to boot!!

I had the same problem a few weeks ago - I even broke a socket trying!

I was skeptical, but because of a friends advise I decided to try "BLASTER PB PENETRATING CATALYST" on them. I'm not kidding, I got them free in literally a minute after spraying this stuff on!! I had never used it before but now I'm a fan

They have it at Wal-Mart or any auto parts or hardware store

I'll try that. I'm only a couple feet off the ground on my back so leverage with a cheater is hard.

I replaced the transverse leafspring...used...and turned the bolts before reinstall...was easier than messing with those notorious frozen bolts.

Yup have smashed a few knuckles in the process.
For bolts like that hitting a socket on the bolt works wonders, help to shock the loctite. caliper bolts can be a real pain in the butt. All the heating and cooling, water etc etc...
After a few GOOD hits, a cheater bar and grunting should come free..
Good Luck

I tried everything short of dynamite on mine. Finally heated the bolt collars with a propane torch and they came out like butter (it liquifies the Locktite).

Torquing them back - all you need is a big torque wrench and some Preparation-H (not for the car).

Try putting some heat to them with a torch.

Maneuver the breaker bar so that it is pushing against the ground, then lower the jack, this uses the weight of the car to break the bolt loose. I used this method, it works...
