Default Who Wins

C5Z novi blown all the goodies running 345's PS2's with suspension upgrades such as coils, sways 581rwhp 3080 pounds.
VS.
a new ZRI all stock.
Both cars ran by the same driver on a track lets say Englishtown to keep it a car race not a drivers race.
It was talk around the table the other day. Trying to figure out if the lighter weight of the C5Z will prevail over the better geared ZR1.

I would have to go with the ZR1. I don't think the 581rwhp will be enough.

Default which one

without a question, the c5z novi will kill the zr1. Only problem will be traction..driver. The zr1 does not make 581hp at the wheels like you said the c5z does. It also weighs almost 400lbs more. More power and less weight.... it's a no brainer.

Talk is cheap, no one can say for sure until it happens...IF it ever happens. Best 2 out of 3 just to make sure.

There are so many factors influencing acceleration, it is very hard to guess the outcome....traction, electronic helpers, tires, weight distribution, axle ratios.....

I was thinking the ZR1 with the fancy computer helping out the launch. Now what happens with both cars running 26 11.5 17 ET drags and I'm thinking the C5Z wins, lighter more hp.

I'd go with the C5Z. Would be a fun race to watch though.

Based on your figures I'd say the C5Z... Better power/weight ratio.

ZR1 hands down. Done it, drove the ZR1, on a race course, road and stripe against many others and cars.

I am going ZR1 - I seen an article the other day and it is hitting the mid-hi 10's -

I have a feeling the Novi Vette with the 581 might not be right there yet!

Thanks,Matt

C5 Novi
The formula has always been power to weight ratio and the C5 has best of both. The launch will be a key, but the sticky tires will help equalize that.

The ZR1 has a MUCH more advanced active handling and traction control!! They have a feature called or referred to "launch control" I know the GS has it too. Lets these cars leave hard without going up in smoke. Has larger tires too!! Might be close on HP,,,but I think the ZR has the technology edge!!

Does it matter all the tech gadgets when your running 17" slicks on a track? I don't know if the launch control can do anything for you with et' slicks on the car.I feel on a drag strip drivers and tires being equal got to give it to hp and weight. On a street SCENARIO with factory tires tech gizmos give the ZR1 a major edge.

again as much as ppl want the 'drivers' to be equal, they never are.

I would still take the ZR1, lighter and the HP / TQ is almost instantaneous.
