Jenaro, I don't claim to be an expert but I read a lot. From what I've read, I agree with Randy, that the Honker has to be some where at the top of the list in quality and function. It is unfortunately at the top of the list in $ too.

The Blackwing and Halltech are both worthy of consideration, they do a great job and also command a premium price.

The VaraRam, which although it might suffer in quality fitting is nothing that cannot be overcome by a serious installer. When set up correctly it could be considered the ultimate cold ram air system... still a pricy 250 to 400 big ones.

For the most gain with the least $ drain nothing can come close to the zip tie modified intake mentioned in many search threads archived here.

I was fortunate when my buddy offered to install his unused '04 Z06 air intake box along with a K&N hi-flow filter for a handshake and a smile. Thanks, Mark.

Jenaro, any modification / replacement air cleaner you decide upon will better than the early stock C5 unit you now have.

You really couldn't go wrong with any of the above mentioned air intakes. It just depends on how much $ and effort you're willing to invest.

Good luck with your choice.

Vararam without a doubt. Especially for the price (~$250). I don't know why some people are complaining about the cost in this thread. 2 of the popular "other" intakes I see listed, the Halltech and the Callway are both $400+ and are much simpler in design. The Halltech is an airbridge with a big K&N stuck on it, the Callway is similar but at least has an airbox to suck air from under the car. Neither will perform as well as the Vararam but they cost significantly more.

They are all overpriced. You can purchase a 2002+ Z06 airbox cover used for around $25. If you want to you can add a K&N or Donaldson panel filter for another $50 for better filtering and breathing and never have to buy another paper filter replacement.

Almost as good as the callaway is the Breathless Performance Vortex rammer. Fit is excellent and I was pleased with my power gain from it. It's $250, same as the vararam. Zip products is 30 min from my house and they don't sell the vararam due to the quality of it.

There are also a ton of forum vendors and tuners that do not sell or recommend anything other than the vararam also. Two heads to every coin.

everyone has their own opinion so heres something that nobody has mentioned......... say halltech vs vararam okay say the vararam will outperform the halltech say 2-3rwhp but ive heard the vararam is not a good air intake for the dyno okay so the vararam is good when on the highway cause of the setup but i care about looks too and the halltech looks way better there in so comparison under the hood but yet another thing to consider as far as i know is the price vararam 250 roughly and halltech 430 roughly and if it were me buying it i would go with the halltech cause looks still go a long way for me not to mention ive had 3 speed shops in the indiana/michigan area suggest the halltech over the vararam

I think the OP was speaking intake manifold. LS6 version would be the best bang for the buck cost wise if that was the question. I have the Vararam and other than LT headers, it was the SOTP dyno wise, the best yet for the $$$$.

I installed a Vararam on my car. After I finished I immediately took it off. I have a nice car and I didn't want that POS under my hood. I went with the Blackwing. I'm absolutely sure the Vararam will outperform the Blackwing but it is still a POS.
