Considering buying a modified C5 and thought the forum would be the best place for some answer. I found one that i am working on a deal right now 99 C5 with some engine mods installed in the last 5000 miles
LG G5X3 Cam (112 LSA)
Oil Catch Can
MSD Spark plug wires
NGK TR6 spark plugs
LG G5X3 Cam (112 LSA)
LG Super Pro Longtubes
Borla Stinger Exhaust
Var-a-Ram
Halltech Air bridge
160* Thermostat
TSP 7.4 Chromoly pushrods
GM LS7 Lifters
LS6 Oil Pump
FAST90/90mm TB
LS7 Clutch & Flywheel
Im wondering if there is anything else that should have been done with these mods that I should ask about. It hasn't been dyno tuned but was tuned using the hand tuning devices for drive ability. Any suggestions or pointers would be great.
Sounds like I pretty well put together package..It really needs to be tuned on a dyno by a good tuner to take advantage of everything..I run a pretty similar package but I run a auto with a 3600 stall ..
Not an expert on cars, but sometimes when a cam is installed it is a good idea to go with different valve springs. Other than that and needing a dyno tune it should be great.
When ever a car is modified, it is a good idea to check out the shop that did the work. Verify they track record as to have they had many problems with their work. Also, if it was done only 5,000 ago I would want to know why is the owner selling it. Sometimes these cars have been rode hard and put away wet.
Take her for a drive. Try and get as much paperwork as you can and run a carfax. Mods are common one's except the LS7 clutch and flywheel. Heavy and an LS6 would have been more than enough to support thoes mods. Good luck!!

Those mods are some really mainstream mods, take it for a good test drive and hammer it through the gears a couple of times and you will know how things are

This is what I thought as well. Not sure if it is a must but I have heard it was recommended.

The work was done by aa former employee of a reputable shop. The former employee part is is what worries me but I think its because he moved. The mods were put on about 18 months ago but has only been driven for 5-6K miles.

One you only mentioned the milage since the mods were done and two you need not mention the cost of the car. I would also worry if it is a high milage car and these mods were done. You did not mention anything about the bottom end. If that is still stock and has some high miles on it, that is a consideration also. You may want to look for something a little closer to you so you can check it out yourself. Just my opinion.

I SURELY hope your being facetious....
That sounds like a good package. And as far as springs i HOPE he changed them...i cant see stock springs surviving that G5x3 longer than the dyno....DEFINATELY get where he purchased these items (reciepts) and also who did and TUNED the work. With mods listed that car REALLY needs to be dyno tuned. IMO street tunes are hit or miss. Find out how meticulous the owner was about changing fluids as that is key in ANY car much less a bolton and cammed LS motor.

Car has 76.5 K miles on it and is located in orlando. Mods were done in internal mods were done in august but im not positive on how many miles have been racked up since then.

Ill work on seeing if he put springs in or not. Also I do want to get it tuned but might try to get him to tune it before I came to see it.

Seriously man, if that car has GM's OEM LS1 springs in it you probably won't make it very far. If he hasn't upgraded the valve springs, and isn't willing to I think you should walk away from the sale. I can't stress the importance of this enough.
But looking at the list of mods in your first post I'm guessing he swapped em out and just forgot to tell you about them. Wouldn't make much sense to do the pushrods, lifters, cam, etc, and leave stock springs.
I dont see an aftermarket balancer on your list. Dont be afraid of the miles. I bought my Z 06 with 75k on it and then did all the mods you show for that car. My car runs great and dyno tuned at 411 rwhp/380rwtq

my ZO6 has 90k on it and im bout to cam it...Its all in how well the car has been taken care of.
I have similar mods and mine runs great. I have 106k miles. About 36k on my cam/headers. As long as the package was well though out - it sure looks like it was - and properly installed, you will be fine.
Dyno tunes are really good, but if he had a good programmer and a bung to check the emissions, then a good street tune can get you very close to what a dyno tune can do.
You may be able to set up the deal subject to final test drive. Blast the AC for a while, make sure to check driveability at slow speeds -- pretend you are in heavy traffic, and check what happens when you turn the AC on/off while driving. Those small types of things are annoyances that can go wrong when the tune isn't real good. Also, make sure to start the car a few times. Not back to back. But drive a bit, pull into a lot to look it over again. Turn it off. Then turn it back on and see how it starts.
If all that works fine, then it's proabably a good tune. You might get more power on a dyno tune, but the driveability will be good.
Good luck!!!!! Don't shy away from high mileage cars. They are great.
Since you are so far away from the car you are thinking about
buying.
Make arangements for Corvette Masters Or Next Level Performance
here in Orlando to make a inspection of this vette you want.
It is money well spent and they will be honest in their evaluation.
Good luck.
