How do you shift w/ your cags bypass??

The cadence is the same for me as a double-clutch used with an un-synchronized transmission.
This practice of maintaining the shift pattern has served me well and has become second nature for me. I may shift sooner (1500 - 2k RPM) while accelerating slower than normal when traffic is light but I always maintain the shift pattern.

If I do (downshift) I'll maintain the shift pattern in reverse while attempting to bring the RPMs up to facilitate a smooth transition while downshifting.
I thought I had fun with a 4-speed '69 Vette I owned for over twenty years until I bought the 6-speed '99 Hardtop. This is fun.

I never worried about the bypass because my natural inclination is to go from 1 to 2 after the rpms are passed for the forced 1-4
When I first installed my MGW, I found myself starting in 3rd on several occasions
and shifting from 4th to 3rd when I was looking for 5th. Of course these occurences were not by choice.

A lot of unneeded RPM's you're using there!!! These cars have tremendous low end torque,,and will pull a high gear at pretty low RPM as long as you are not pulling hard or going up inclined road way!! Our town has the country's longest "MAIN STREET",,and a lot of it is pretty flat,,and can cruise at the 35 MPH speed limit in 6th!! Now I must add,, I've been driving stick shifts for a very LONG time,,and know how to listen to and feel the drive train,,and can tell if the motor is starting to "lug". You DO NOT try to accelerate at this low RPM,,you just maintain momentum with a feathered throttle. BUT you do not need to be doing over 60!!

Not really going to hurt anything,,again just running higher RPM than necessary!! 4th is 1 to 1,,just like 4th in the old 4speeds. At the strip,,I was going through the traps in 4th at a tad over 110,,and has lots of tach to go(wasn't really looking down at over 110 to see exactly what RPM I was turning
)!! So 50-55 is not a big deal,,just wasting gas is all!!

4th gear cruising at 50-60MPH is probably not as efficient as 5th gear. Try 5th at those speeds, the load difference is insignificant. 6th gear I only use at 60+MPH on expressway's.

At 55 I'd have been in 6th long before,,unless I was really stepping on it to get up to speed!!1500 in 6th will give you about 70-75
!! As stated before,,the low end torque will pull higher gearing/low RPM quite well,,as long as you don't try to accelerate quickly or up an incline!! Within the given parameters,,you can loaf along in 6th quite well!!
