Hello all. I just picked up my '01 Pewter coupe last week.. Very 1st Vette for me.....Lovin' it!
Anyways, I noticed this windshield is kinda distorted when your looking through it.. The only way I can describe it is that it's like an orange-peel paint job on cars n stuff.. Now it's not really really distorted, but just enough for me see it...
Is this normal for a HUD windshield or no?
Also one more question not related.
What type of screws are used to attach the front corvette plate cover? I have the cover, just no screws.
I have a HUD windshield, it doesn't have an orange peel look to it but I do get distortion with my HUD when it is in higher positions. If I set it in the middle viewing position it's fine. Kinda weird.
My original windshield on my 02 w/HUD had a slight distortion on the HUD display, moving the display slightly up corrected the problem. I had the windshield replaced recently and I have the same distortion in the same spot on the new glass. I'm guessing its just the way the glass is shaped, anyway adjusting the display corrects the problem. As far as orange peel effect I have not seen that. Good luck and many happy miles with your new Vette!
I've not noticed any distortion in my '99 FRC w/Hud. The front plate has two very small phillips screws at the very bottom & are hard to see, you almost need to view looking up from the ground!

That's kind of what mine is like - at certain positions the HUD does appear to be distorted.
Know where the cars been its whole life? Sitting out in HOT sun can distort the sheet between the glass as well as the glass itself if its extreme enough.
02 and mine.......is NOT distorted, looks to me that we may have a lot of drinkers in the crowd not saying there is anything wrong with it, just saying

BTW, hubby's Z is a 2001. I'm seeing a trend here.
