Can someone tell me the main difrences between the two generations.
I know i left this very wide open but im just looking for comparisons in any aspect.
Not so much in looks. Obviously i can see the interiors and exteriors are similar but diffrent,..how about the rest of the car itself.
Also not interested too much on engine specs. More into stuff like they moved the part A from here to there because of this...or they did away with this because of this. Just interested in what i might see posted about the two generations in comparison to one another.
To me the biggest difference is the size. The C6 is slimmed down closer to a 911. Same basic platform as far as engine/drive-train (with some extra displacement). Pop up headlights finally disappear, and the interior received an upgrade. Very similar cars, really depends on taste.
I like the styling of my C5 quite a bit more than i do the C6's.
They are very similar in looks but the subtle diffrences make the C5 more appealing in my eyes.
I want the power of a C6 but want to keep the look of my C5.
I was just wondering if there were any huge diffrences between the two that would make me want a C6 over my C5.
Apparently i just need to drop an LS7 into my C5 and call it done!
Hey while im writting this i got another question. My C5 seems to have a few computer glitches from time to time.
As in i get the reduced power mode now and then. Usually i will just turn the car on and off a few times and it goes away.
Also the tire pressure monitoring system likes to give me incorrect readings. Not a big deal because i know the tires have the appropriate amount of pressure, but the fact that the digital read out gets stuck on "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" is kinda annoying.
My question is are these same issues just as prominate on the C6's as they are on the C5's?
I think with enough mods, your c5 will make you very happy. In fact I have seen many C5'S that can blow the doors off a C6. It just depends on what you want to spend. I'm not sure why your comp readings are off though. You might want to go have that looked at.
I own a 2000 C5 and 2008 C6. Love 'em both........but when I need to run an errand or just go 'no where' for a couple of hours I find that I grab the key fob to the '08. Just seems to me that the C6 is more refined. Oh, and I do love the additional 91 horses too.
They are both great Corvettes and I'm blessed to own one of each.
in addition little convenience features like a true double din radio with nav and satellite radio options not available on the C5. fixed headlights for the first time in many years. slightly shorter body length. all in all however the C6 is as described a more refined (and powerful) C5, not to mention slightly redesigned body panels
I have a 2002 Z06 which was owned by hubby and he gave to me when he got his modified C6. We both have about the same HP. I like the look of the C5 a lot better than the C6,but love those heated seats in the C6. He has Z06 rear and modified interior. Both are great cars and daily drivers. I told him if he gets that Grand Sport he has been "lusting" over, that he can sell the 08. I love my C5Z06!!(it has almost 79,000 miles on it!)
You don't use your key to start the C6!! Senses you fob is in the car,,and just push a button to start!! Same for door lock,,senses you are close and unlocks as I remember!!

GM tried to make the C6 the same size as a Porsche 911 to appeal to more foreign buyers (who felt the car was too big).
Should really be called a C5.5 ! Not a big leap like the C4 to C5.
I like the C5 interior much better than the plastic looking Cavalier interior of the C6. J/K... The C6 is fine, but I still like the C5 body and list of discontinued parts
