Air Intake/filter. I currently have a K&N duel cone style filter. I just replaced the stock air bridge with a carbon fiber style bridge. I am thinking of changing to a Blackwing. It appears that it will be a simple chance out from the duel cone to this style. It is going on an '01. Am I correct on this?
I believe it is a simple bolt on swap based on the two types of filters you mentioned. Why are you switching? How was the performance of the dual cone filter?

I cannot say what the performance was as I never had it tuned or on a dyno. I put the duel cone style on about 3 years ago when I changed out by stock exhaust system to a Mid America Quad Power system. Corvette Fever was just starting a project car and MAM was the sponsor. Those were the first two items they changed. According to the write-up the air filter gave them about a 5 hp gain. I am thinking about the switch mainly because I am getting a little tired of the look with my present setup. It really has nothing to do with performance.
I do this from time to time. I just finished removing all of the major chrome engine bling and replacing it with CF.

Reason I'm asking is that I'm considering a chrome dual cone filter. Again, mostly for a change from stock and under hood bling. If I can get some extra HP, great!
I had the dual cone and changed to the vararam. Looks mainly stock after all assembled, and the performance gains are great over the dual cone intake. I'll take a pic and post it later.

Thanks I would appreciate that. I have looked at the Vararam also, but I am a little concerned about water intake due to the heavy rain we can get here in Florida, plus I understand they can be a real bear to install. But the pictures may help.
i like the look of my dual cone, not sure about any hp gains but it does breath better so that must mean something....and yes i have added a hood seal to keep the water out.

Halltech has the new Killer Bee II 2001-2004 LS6/LS1 Conversion CAI that lets you convert to the LS7 probe type MAF. The kit includes everything and looks like it might be a nice upgrade from their Venom II system and/or any stock system. My $0.02 worth.

You might want to put a hood seal on there to keep the water out of those filters I noticed one day after I washed mine and opened the hood the water went straight to the filters. So rain and a direct spray to the front of the hood could cause the filters to take on water.
