It seems as though your entire electronics stack, i.e. HVAC and NAV head unit needs to be moved down.

Did you build/mod the bezel yourself or purchase it from a vendor? I know Dennis at DD mods has built many of these and guided the installation process, however not sure if you purchased from him.

Just did mine with Dennis' help. There are two locating pins on the back side of the bezel. They are plastic and locate into two holes which are covered up by the mounting brckets for the radio. I just cut the pins off. Also, elongate the holes upward about 1/8 " for the HVAC unit. everything will fit better.

Just contact Dennis and send him a copy of the pics showing the problem. I'm positive Dennis will figure out what went wrong with the install.

I think Dennis mentioned earlier that even if you keep the ashtray, the HVAC unit needs to be slightly adjusted (lower?). Shoot him a note. He will definitely be able to guide you through the correction & adjustment.

i went through the same problems when doing my install. i picked up a lot of very good pointers from people here who had done the conversion before me. first thing to realize is that the head unit must be almost perfectly placed to accomplish the install. that said, i found that the aluminum mounting "brackets" that are supplied with the radio from dennis are very difficult to work with. i made my own that are the height of the side of the head unit attaching them to both the upper and lower mounting holes in the head unit making it much easier to insure that the radio can be adjusted properly and can be made to maintain good horizontal positioning.

one of the best tips i received was to use something like a dremel tool and elongate vertically the mounting holes in the HVAC head unit. after snipping off the centering posts on the back of the unit you now have the ability to reposition the HVAC a bit lower to clear the opening in the bezel and to allow better adjustment position of the radio head unit.

hope that helps you a bit.

Just give Dennis a call. I just finished putting mine back in this morning, I have the one w/o the ashtray. I wish I called Dennis first thing like he offered but it was late Sunday afternoon when I started and gave up and finally finished it early this morning.

Remove the HVAC and cut off the guide pins. Then ellongate the holes about 1/4" so the unit will slide down.

Your head unit looks like it needs to be shimmed to push it forward to fit the bezel flush.

My HVAC did not need to be moved. The radio mounting plate is all that had to be removed. I cut off alignment pins on back of the bezel so it would fit better. I actually cut the alignment pins off of my original bezel before I got the DD also because it started pulling away on the upper right corner.

couple things

did you bend the upper tabs up and out of the way to allow for more room to bring the back of the radio up and get the correct angle. The angle is off as the top needs to come out more

the left or drivers side is to high and needs to come down

cut off the insert pins like mentioned on the hvac controls
you dont need to but by doing this and enlarging the screw holes it will drop down a small amount and look better

leave the controls out
get the radio positioned correctly first and then go back and put the controls in.

its not fun getting the angle and position correct and takes some time if you have not done one before.

call me if you need to
