Any issue with me keeping my car on jackstands for an indefinite period? She is going to be stranded for a bit, and I want to make certain it is ok for me to leave her hanging with wheels/tires on.
Right spots, use wood between the jackstands and car.
Can you elaborate on this? What does the wood do and how do you get it in between the jack stands and the car if you're using a jack one wheel corner at a time?

What they are referring to is when you jack the car from the the front and rear cross member put a piece of wood on the jacking pad. Once the tires are clear of the ground or at whatever height you want, place the jack stands under the wood and lower the jack. The jack stands will than be under the cross member and the wood will be. between the stands and the aluminum cross member

Thanks. I've never jacked my Vette from the cross members, only from the corner jacking pucks that are built into my aluminum frame savers one wheel/corner at a time.
So per jacking as instructed, I center/place the wood (2X4?) between the jack and the cross member (front or back), jack up the car/raise the wheels and then install the jack stands underneath the wood and then lower the jack?

yes, you are correct. That is how I have my car now, and I was just wondering if I would suffer any adverse effects by keeping my car up for a few weeks/months until I get my exhaust issues corrected....

Thanks, so the purpose of the wood between the stands and the cross members is to equalize the pressure the stands/car weight place on the cross members?
Not a problem. Hell, mine has been in the air for about 2 months now as I've been working on it. I put jackstands on the framerails where the "jacking pucks" usually go. No wood obviously. I do use wood between the crossmembers and the jack when jacking it up initially though.
Go to the "tech" section....go to the sticky's at the top of the section.
Then go to the "ultimate DIY thread". Keeping the Vette on jack stands is covered real well there.

Dope
I thought you are not supposed to put jackstands on the frame rail locations?
