OK, I went out and snapped a picture of the mirror mount for my 2004 vert. Blendmount indicates their radar detector mount does not work with this mirror mount.

Their website indicates incompatibility with 2002-2004, however some have already mentioned that their mounts work in their 2002 C5s.

Can anyone compare this picture below with what they have in 2002 and earlier C5s? First, I'm trying to confirm what year these mirror mounts changed and what the actual diffrence is. Also, does it change by model? i.e. vert vs. coupe, vs. Z06?

I have a 2002 Z06 and mine does not look like that at all. I have more of a standard shaft that is round. Kind of a standard looking mirror mount. Not sure about the one pictured here.

The standard shaft type mirror mounts are the kind that works with Blendmount because they have a clamp that is secured around the shaft.

Obviously, based on the picture of my mount, there is no where for the clamp to connect.

Sorry. But at least you didn't spend the money first.

I'm curious whether or not I could swap out my mirror mount for a 2001/2002 C5 mirror mount. Are the mirrors different? Strange GM change.

I've seen a few nice ones, however they only fit the round mirror mounts. I don't like using suction cups and since I would like to wire the detector into the back of the mirror, I would like a nice, solid mount.

I like these (banner ad), unfortunately they don't fit the OEM mirror mount...

That's basically the same thing as the Blendmount from a conceptual perspective.

...however I think my 10-year old would miss his bike reflector.

I put a Blendmount on my wife's 2002 C5 without electrochromic (auto dimming) mirror. My 2002 with auto-dim will not accept that mount. It looks like yours.

You may have solved the mystery. Mine is an auto dimming mirror so perhaps that why the mirror mount is different (to hide the wiring)?

I used a invisi-cord hook up and a flat half inch by 1/8" by 6" piece of aluminum flat bar. On one end of the bar I mounted the metal adapter that the suction cups mount on. On the other I removed some plastic on the visor rack receptor (the round piece with a screw that the visor snaps into). Drilled a hole in the flat piece, fit that end into the visor snap, replaced the screw and visor mount, slid the radar detector onto its mount, lined it up forward and tightened. Works like a champ, sits high and out of the line of vision and hidden from outside by the tint. Still picks up radar up to one mile away on the highways. Cost was a little time. Benefit was saving my butt when not driving properly.

Does it look like this one: http://www.vettemods.com/radarbracket.htm

I just ordered the vettemods version for my C5. I hope it works and looks good but it hasn't arrived yet so I don't know yet.

Looks like a nice option. Please post pics when you have it installed. The pics on the website are not that good.

I have one of these somewhere in my garage, I could never figure out how to mount it. Am I supposed to glue it to the mirror? I gave up a stayed with the suction cup mount.

Also, I think it covered my cool little yellow led light on the mirror.

I bought a metal mount for my Valentine that hooks to the rearview mirror. Love it but I think it's specifically for the Valentine.
