I bought a new i-pad a few weeks ago and finally decided to hook it up to my vette. It plays directly through the factory bose sound system and it sounds great. Has anyone else mounted one in there car? I am looking for some more ideas. I did a search and didn't find any information. Here is a pic of it.
I was going to that route for my C5, but decided against it.
1. you lose your local radio stations
2. looks like its just stuck on the front of the radio
3. ipad doesnt have an 30pin to RCA out so you can hook it up to an amplifier.
4. For me, the data restrictions on the ipad dont really work for streaming from the internet.
5. you are blocking the center vent
6. you cannot get to heater controls easily.

Here is a pics of how I did it. I just used the I-pad case "you have to buy it seperate" and connected it to the front air vent. It works great and it doesn't move while driving. It has wireless internet, plays movies/music videos, music, photos, games, it's a computer in your car. If you want to listen to the regular radio all you have to do is unplug it. It takes a second to unplug it/take it off and everything is stock again.
It'd be neat if you could connect it via bluetooth so it wouldn't have to hang there. Although at that point I'm not sure why you wouldn't just use an iPod.
The ipad is the newest and best car gadget. You have thousands of songs, in car car-diag., the best navigation system with google maps, videos, and some really cool car apps. Here are a couple cool links. Watch the youtube video, it can really do alot more than you think.
