Hey guys and gals, I need your opinion on resurfacing my flywheel.
My 04Z has 70k on the clock and it looks like I'm heading towards getting a new clutch. I've changed the clutch fluid regularly since I've owned it, but I think the previous owner didn't care for this car like I do. Anyway, I'm trying to decide which clutch to get. I'm all over the map on which clutch to purchase. The big reason I'm undecided is because I'm not sure if I'm going to go with F/I, which means I could go with a LS7 clutch but the heavy flywheel doesn't sound great. If I want to make sure to do this once and be ready in case I go F/I then I think a McLeod RST twin is the direction I'm leaning. If I go with the McLeod then it looks like I can use my current flywheel.
What are your opinions on resurfacing the flywheel? I'm leaning towards replacing everything while I'm having the work done, to include a Tick adj. master. I'm just curious if resurfacing is even a decent option. I don't track the car and I don't dump the clutch if that helps with your answers.
ACT makes a great clutch kit. I replaced my flywheel just because of the weight issue and I would hate having to tear back into it because an issue developed due to the worn flywheel. ACT clutches are expensive but have worked very well for me so far. A&A did the install for me and I have another friend that has the same one and is just as satisfied.
not to hijack the thread, but I've always wondered if the flywheels come pre-balanced.
I assume so, but I guess that assumes the internal crank etc (stock crank) is balanced before the flywheel goes on.
Therefore the flywheel must be only balanced for itself and not to accommodate any imbalance in the engine internals - correct? Seems logical.
Thought I would ask.

The set-up I bought from ACT was balanced from the manufacture. I can't say all manufactures do so..... but I would assume so.
