Default hello from future owner

Just made my first post in the Intro section.

Been lurking in C5 since June, thought it time to officially check in.

Still deciding between a 2001 / 2002 vert and a 2002 Z. I'll figure it out eventually

Great forum, have learned so much here!

I had the same dilemma. Love the Z06 but can't even take the roof off. Wound up with a C5 6 speed Vert. No regrets. Either way you'll be happy.
Good luck.

Went through the same decision process and ended up with a 2004 6 speed vert...love it, love cruising with the top down. Still love the Z06, now I can't decide whether to get a C5 Z06 or a C6 Z06.

the short roof-long deck makes those two the only options for me. i chose topless. if you don't have to have a vert get the zo6. if you have to have a vert, buy it and open the hood so you can dump your wallet in there and you won't be missing a thing. [ jk ] but seriously, with suspension and motor mods you can greatly improve the performance if you need to.

welcome! I picked an automatic coupe in 2004 then switched to an 01 vert with a 6 speed manual. Just pick one and enjoy it. Nothing compairs to the 6 speed with the top down..

And the price gets cheaper everyday!

If I had to do it all over again, at least today my feelings are:
[a] If you are a gear head and do all of your own work, I say go Vert. You can always mod up to the performance (engine/suspension) of the Z06.
But its hard to go back to Targa or Vert if you have the Z06.
It can be done, but its pricey or outrageous depending on which option you choose for the Z06.

[b] If you just want to drive the thing and have factory performance/reliability as a priority, then definitely go Z06.

I chose [b], however I really wasn't educated at that time of what it would take to get the performance of the Vert up to a Z06.

Now that I have the Z06, I love it. But I do sometimes yearn for a targa or Vert on a nice summer day. One day I may targa the Z06, but its not in the cards right now. So I'll just lay a little more rubber down to ease my pain.

You can't go wrong with whatever you choose//////but I'm biased towards the verts.

Keep us posted.

I was a semi active member of this Forum for 7 years before getting my first C5.

You'll enjoy whatever you get.

Welcome. I have an 02 6sp vert and an 03 Z06. You cannot go wrong with either one. The Z is sexier with the top up. With the top down the Vert is the way to go. The vert will be quite a bit more money to get up to speed and the Z will always be faster modded until you start dropping serious cash. Good luck either way.

Appreciate all the welcomes

Agreed...the short roof-long deck is the look for me

Regardless of what I get, I see a short ride to ECS in my future - a tune at a minimum.

But I have no problem experiencing and enjoying the vette as it came from the factory, if that's the car I eventually get.

Not a wrench turner, so any major mods will be at "retail".

In the beginning, and for quite some time thereafer (budgetary considerations and so forth) I see myself being quite happy sitting behind the wheel, experiencing for the first, second, and each time thereafter, that which is corvette
