I am having issues with the SES light coming on on my 2001 corvette. The code says it's the O2 sensor on bank 1 (front sensor ). I had the Chevy dealer look at it and they replaced it. After driving it a few miles the SES light came back on.... same issue. I took it back and they messed with it again and the SES come back on after a couple of days. I am getting ready to take it back again. Any ideas what is causing this??
Since it was replaced once already and that didn't fix the issue, although it should have, I'm wondering about the pin/socket connections at the sensor's connector. Crimps on the pins/sockets should be looked at too. Next in troubleshooting would be the tuning of the engine....has the car been tuned? Just extra thoughts here, when was the last time the plugs and wires were changed?
Thanks for the response. The Chevy dealer replaced the O2 sensor again and test drove it and the light did not come on. They are keeping over night and testing again in the morning. Hopefully they resolved the problem. If not I will ask them to tune the engine. I purchased the car about 2 months ago so I don't know the repair history. It had 32600 miles on it then and was in spotless condition with new tires. I think that maybe headers have been put on it. I didn't notice it since I did not know what a stock Corvette comes with (as far as the exhaust manifold goes). I don't know if maybe this was part of the issue. From reading other blogs there seems to be problems relating to the O2 sensors when modifications are done to the exhaust system. Again, hopefully the Chevy dealer will figure it out. The warranty I purchased has covered everything so far.
