Very good question. I became disabled about 5 yrs ago (accident) and had to retire early. I always had a project of some sort. The last was a 69 SS 396 Chevelle that I loved working on. Since my accident I haven't been able to work on anything.
I bought the c5 about a month ago and enjoy finding something to work on. I modified the air intake box a bit and that got me started. I changed my plug wires and re gapped the plugs. It took me about 4 hrs and I was hurting afterwards but I loved it. Simple jobs are not so simple to me and it may seem trivial to some but to me I accomplished something I thought I would never do again......I loved it....... Driving is fun but I would say working on it is my therapy.

Driving. I like working on it, but I get frustrated easily and need help often yet hate becoming "tool b*t@h" to my husband, so I get more enjoyment out of driving it...

Being a full time mechanic also, I found it difficult working on cars all day, then working on mine after hours. I surely enjoyed driving the Vette home though. best part of the day

I don't do a lot of repairs, but I love to clean it.Having my own bussiness with presures, I find this cleanning time better than drugs, alcohol, or a shrink. My wife can never find the q tips or old towels, sometime new ones if she is not looking.
