Default Driving or working on?

So whats more fun...driving or working on your Vette?

I know thats a seemingly bizarre question but.....being a former full-time mechanic I actually enjoy working on mine in my shop as much as I like driving it!

Call me weird but some of the best times with your car can be when its standing still in the shop, radio on, tools out and just you and it.....

Now it can't compare with the guys who are lucky enough to have Hooters girls posing with their's but mentally, its just as fun.

Mike, I enjoy both. I have probably spent more time lying down to get the perfect shine on my lower quarter panels than the average motorhead.

It's a tough call so I would have to say I enjoy both... time on the road as well as in the garage.

Huurraah!

I can't even compare getting under the wheel to getting behind it! Driving these wonderful machines is fantastic. I do understand the feeling of accomplishment when you fix a problem (especially with help from this great forum)

A friend actually said to me once..."You are the only person I know who actually gets a little grin on your face when something on the car isn't just rite" I enjoy Garage time very much..Working on high performance cars or motorcycles...thinking about how the parts you bolt on will perform..and how perfectly they have been installed...The mind can give you that same Rush...

Probably the wrong smilie but I am all thumbs. I can handle basic maintenance but really don't enjoy working on the vette except for washing/Zaino'ing/detailing...then going for a drive

Driving it. I like tooling around, but I don't really like to get dirty or having busted nuckles, flame suit on. This is what working on it means to me. Oh, and during the summer time it gets up to 105 here in Kansas, so even detailing will get anyone to break a serious sweat, and it snows during the winter time, so laying on my back on cold concrete isn't too fun either.

You MIGHT be a little odd if it's just as much fun!! While I do enjoy doing my own wrenching,,and I get a lot of satisfaction from it,,,I by far enjoy DRIVING it MORE!!!

I think I'd much rather spend time behind the wheel driving the car, but hey, working on the car isn't too shabby either.

Honestly, driving.

Most of the work on my 'vette usually involves getting it up on my 2-post lift or trying to fit my hands / arms into somewhere not built for someone with a big 6'4" build. That being said, work ends up being easy, if a little time consuming.

I'd rather leave 'working on cars' to the project vehicles we have, and enjoy driving the nice newer one I've got for a DD.

I have to say both for me

Only does working on it become a PITA is when something huge may be wrong and it'll be down for a while- IE- Tranny rebuild

Other than that, 100+ mile fun driving on the spur of the moment is what my wife and I enjoy or just taking it to work for the day!

Thanks,Matt

Both. When I'm not driving it I'm looking for something to fix on it. My wife calls her my 'garage *****'

Its been, for the last eight years, a toss-up. Now that its cooler in South Florida, I enjoy to do projects, ie. (both headlight gears in the last few days) BUT, I love to drive.

I haven't driven my Zo6 in a year and a half, so I guess I like wrenching on it more.

Nothing like one last look before you turn out the garage lights and reflect on what you've accomplished.

I'm a die-hard gearhead and proud of it!

I enjoy working on mine just as much as driving.

I think most of the guys here enjoy bragging to each other about how much MONEY they spent having some one ELSE wok on their car, bragging to each other about how much HP they THINK they have, and then driving like GRANNY back to the garage to put another coat of WAX on it.

flaagan,

Don't I know it! I am 6'8" and there are just some places that I cannot fit nor get my hands into!

But I have to agree with you, working on project cars is fun too!

depends if I'm working on it to improve something like sway bars or headers then fun stuff but if it's something that goes wrong like leaky butt then no fun.
