Default water pump blues

resently had the dealership replace the water pump on my 04Z but when i picked it up it seemed to run hotter than normal . they are telling me that the thermostat they used is a higher opening temp because of emission crap. they are saying my original thermostat must have been sticking open slightly so i'm not used to the new temps. i bought the car new and it has always run at 190 not 192 or 194 or 196 but 190. got any suggestions?

Nothing wrong with 190-200 at all. Are you really upset with 6 more degrees?
I wouldn't worry about it at all.

You should be just fine at those temps.

If you don't like the higher temps, put in a 180* tstat and get it programmed to have the fans turn on @ 180. I never even get to 190* in the summer with the a/c on.

Hell, you can just have all emission codes tuned out, and you'll never have a problem with emissions or inspection again, even if you go cat-less.

They also might not have "burped" the cooling system properly when they refilled it. If there's an air bubble in the passages somewhere, it can cause higher temps. The proper filling/burping procedure is in the manual and has been posted here dozens of times. Do a search.

Possible air in system -

But why not get a cooler T-stat and call it a day - reprogramm the fans to come on sooner and that whole 190* will be even lower

Thanks,Matt
