Does anyone know if the 12000 Lb Rino rams will work on a C5 ??
If your C5 is not lowered, Rhino ramps ($30-$40) work great. The only thing I had to do (before I lowered my C5) was to place rubber mats under the back of each. My garage floor is painted and bit more slippery that just concrete.
Currently, I use home-made wood ramps to get my car up high enough to slide a large floor jack under the cross beam. It lifts the entire front end up quickly and easily. I then throw in the Rhinos and proceed to jack up the back for jack stand placement.
I'm at stock height and use the rhino ramps for everything. I just put a 2x4 in front of the ramps and drive up. Real simple. Once on the ramps, I use a floor jack and some wood to jack up the back of the car by the cradle. Place jack-stands and lower jack! Money!
Rhino ramps work great for me. Just built some lead up ramps out of 2x12x12 and some for the rear out of another 2x12x12. I can't speak for the sliding on the garage floor because I did my oil change just outside the garage since it was a nice day. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.
I used to do this too, but I finally broke down and spent the money on 2-piece race ramps. They are far easier to use, and allow excelllent access to the underside of the car........!!!
I now drive up on the race ramps, jack up the rear and slide in the rhino ramps. The car is off the ground and going no where.
I installed headers and a tunnel plate this way, very convenient..
There is the combo of Race Ramps ramps, and Wheel Cribs to accomplish this as well:
Race ramps are to expensive for me so I purchased a set of Rhino ramps and they work great for what I use them for. You can't beat them at $35 for the set !
