Here is trivia. The top speed of a Coupe is higher than a convertible or a ZO6, due to better aerodynamics.
Remember a ZO6 has 405 HP compared to a Coupe's 345-350 HP, aerodynamics is VERY important at speed !
At some top speed events, the Coupe is limited to 165 mph (without additional safety hardware). The Convertible is limited to even less because it has no hardtop.
Here are your maximum downsifting speeds:
Downshifting (Manual Transmission)
Do not downshift into the gear shown below at a speed
greater than shown in the table:
FIRST (1) .................... 50 mph (80 km/h)
SECOND (2) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 74 mph (1 19 km/h)
THIRD (3) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 101 mph (163 km/h)
FOURTH (4) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 130 mph (209 km/h)

I've had my 97 at 152 and i don't think there was much left. Of course that was in an A4 with a 3.73 rear end and stock motor. I have not put it to the test since I added 160hp and bumped the rev limiter by 700rpm.
That's crazy! How did the car feel? Was it stable? I heard the front end can become a little "floaty"
I actually ran my Vette at the Texas Mile twice. The first time I had belt slip and Koni Shocks, with stock bushings, I noticed a tad of lift above 160ish and did 180mph then. My upgrades for March of this year was to upgrade the blower setup to an 8 rib and Andy's latest bracket, also the suspension got some work, PFADT Coilovers (set very stiff), PFADT bushings really tightened up the front end, no more play in the steering wheel and C6Z sways.
This time I had zero issues going in a straight line, no lifting and the C6Z Brakes stopped me in plenty of time, 1/2 mile to stop. No float, straight as an arrow stopped better than when I had the stock brakes on before.
Nothing like hammering the throttle for 25 seconds it is such a rush doing a legal 190ish

Not 100% correct. But close. The aerodynamics are definitely better on the coupe than the vert and Z06. However, the reason the coupe is faster for top-speed is because it's gearing. All of the 6-speed C5s achieve their top speed in 5th gear. The coupe doesn't have enough power to push to the top of 5th gear putting its top speed at around 175MPH. While the Z06 has enough power to push to the top of 5th gear which is 178MPH. (Keep in mind the Z06 weighs significantly less than the coupe, helping to off-set the aerodynamics difference.) The rolling resistance is technically less even though the wheels are an inch wider due to the reduced weight. When accelerating, the weight of the car shifts to the back (where the tires are widest) and on the Z06, the majority of the weight was reduced in the back placing comparable rolling resistance on the back wheels for both the coupe and Z06.
However, if the coupe made 80-90HP more, it should push to the top of 5th gear which would be above 180MPH. The Z06's limitation, in reality, is gearing, not aerodynamics.
On a side note, the Z06 will be able to push its way to it's top speed before the coupe would hit its own top speed. The drag-coefficient difference between the Z06 and coupe is 0.02, which is really not a lot at all. The C5Z has a much better drag-coefficient than the C6Z, which is gapped at 0.03. However, they fixed the gearing limitation in the C6Z and have enough power to push to the top of 5th.

So, only 1/2 mile to stop from 160 mph in the Texas Mile? Stock brakes are ok with that? I've hit my brakes pretty hard at 120, and it didn't take long to bring it down to 70, but 160 is a different ball game. You cover a lot of ground in a short time at 160. I'm using 160 mph, because I've heard that's about what a stock z06 runs in the Texas Mile.
