Default Fixing HUD Projector

Is there anyway to fix busted plexiglass on the HUD projector?

It's not plexiglass, it's a plastic film like that used to protect phones (Ipod) screend from damage.

My guess is you could buy a sheet of it and cut a piece to fit.

Got the same issue, with mine as the guy who took my blue car did not remove parts correctly.

I'll try to figure something out and let you know. It'll probably be a few weeks as I'm kind of over extended.

I don't have any problems with my HUD glass cover, but would be interested in any fixes anyone can come up with. Just for future reference.

Unless you've got the mold, good luck. Last I looked the projector isn't that expensive. I had to replace mine some years ago due to a failed light sensor inside and at that time, it was like $196. I'm sure its higher now of course as nothing goes down in price except computers!

Do a Search......I'm going off of memory (not always a good idea ) but I seem to remember a post about HUD repairs from a couple of months ago and this topic was discussed. Good Luck

I don't know much about getting a direct replacement plexiglas piece for a HUD but I do know that by using a heat gun it's a fairly simple matter to form a curve in a flat sheet of plexiglas. The hardest part is coming up with a mold that the hot plexiglas will conform to when heat and gravity works on it.

Default Just a suggestion

A face shield is thin, flexible, and scratch resistant. It could be cut, shaped, and glued in as a replacement. They cost less than five dollars at Lowes.

Good question since its pretty far removed from the usual possible ways anyone could break plexiglass.

Sorry guys just came back to this thread after a couple of months. I ended up buying a used one for not too much. It was on the ground under my desk because I hadn't gotten around to installing it yet. I have a bat from the louisville slugger factory on top of the hutch on my desk. My cat jumped up and knocked it down and it landed right on the projector.

Yeah, my whole life seems extended lately.

Thanks for the update. I think Steve Doten, is making some repairs to them now.

I dropped him an email and I'm waiting a response.
