I just measured my new Sears Platinum P3 (group 75), and see that there is another 1-3/8" more room (length) in the battery tray. In other words, I think a group 78 would of fit, even though a group 75 is called for.

I don't see threads about cheap batteries leaking.

I won't trust either (if they are liquid). That is why I just bought the AGM Platinum from Sears.

Yes it is over twice the price ($213 with core battery & tax), but it supposedly can't ever leak.

thanks good info, either one 75 or 78 would fit.

I'd go for the additional reserve time and cca's the 78 provides.

I run (2) of the sears Platinums in my boat. After having the other junk let me down I am pleased with my choice. It is the only thing I trust to have sit in my boat for weeks at a time, fire the boat up, run 28 miles off shore in the Atlantic Ocean, fish all day running all kinds of radios, depth finders, GPS. etc, and have them start every time to get me back to shore. There is now a Platinum in my Vette. Its a little more money but it is cheap insurance as far as I am concerned.
