I was in Harbor Freight the other day and I saw this magnet cell phone mount for 2-3 bucks. So I purchased it and attached the magnet to my rearview mirror and the little piece of metal to back of my iphone.
I've been driving around with it for a couple weeks and got to say the tom tom navigation system in my iphone works pretty well when mounted to view satellites.
I keep my phone up there all the time now when driving use bluetooth for conversations.
In next couple days, Im going to wire my iphone connector directly into map lights 12v power so I dont have to stretch cord up ( will just plug it in at mirror.

Try adapting an inviscord. Search on here to find them.
It blocks out too much of your rear vision, IMO. I love my handheld Sony Nav. 5" screen is big enough to see clearly, and it doens't come with the $2000 factory upcharge.

and oh, HEY, UR GUNNA MISS UR TURN DUDE!!
Invisicord looks great, thanks for suggestion. I believe I'll need to wire a resistor (or regulator ) and the drop voltage from 12v to 5v for iphone connector. Googling now to see how others have hardwired their iphones in.
Anyone who has done it, would love suggestions. My car has cd in the radio and no a changer in trunk.
that guy behind you was probably WTF'ing as you took a picture of him through the rear view. LOL
LOL No doubt
Dennis at Double D Mods hooked me up with the solution.
100 bucks shipped, for pxdp(iphone to car) pxhgm4 (c5 plug and play harness) plus an extra 11' black cable with free shipping.
This will allow me to control the iphone music through radio controls, keep it charged and turn by turn navigation coming through vehicle speakers when listening to iphone music. Thanks Dennis
The least expensive way to do it is to get a $130 Garmin with Bluetooth. There's no monthy data plan required (saves $30/month) and you can get free updates and traffic warnings as well.
Still, I guess if you're already locked into a data plan, why not use it in any way you can?
Yeah, this looks good... Its what gave me idea for what I did with iphone.
If I was going with a navigation for my car and wasn't already paying for the iphone, Id do a Double Din mod, and indash navigation ( really sweet ) or the rearview mirror navigation.
