Hello people. I'm new here to the forum. I just bought an 2000 Corvette Z06 delco/mongoose. For some reason my gears been sticky which means that my gears are not smooth and hard to go in gear. Any help on fixing this?
Try Mobil 1 Synthetic Dexron III, worked for me.
On the bottle it says for GM vehicles 2005 and older. The 2006 and newer stuff is the Dexron VI, bottle looks the same, not good for our older trans.
Uhhh, Yeah.. No Z06's were made in 2000. C5 Z06's were only made between 2001-2004..
Yes, I know z06 wasn't made in the 2000 it was a swap motor with a delco/mongoose package. Ever since I bought the car my gears been sticky like not going into gears its keep popping out and my reverse gears is messed up also does the same problem I change my fluid and I dont know what the problem with it maybe I need a new clutch or something.

obviosly not a Z (imitation) and when did did a "mongoose swap" they only change the motor... not the tranny am sure... u still prolly have a M6 not an M12 like in Zs
You need to take you car to a shop and tell you, I have a feeling your looking at a trans rebuild, if lucky you have a clutch issue, again if you are not a wrencher take the car to someone.

I believe you are right cause I drove a regular Z06 and it doesnt feel like this at all.

Steve
I can do the work myself I just need to know what wrong before I blow my money on things that I dont need to be fix. My thoughts are going towards the tranny now. It the same response I be getting.

Start with the clutch and see if that fixes it then work your way back to the trans does not hurt to replace everything while your under there
Check your clutch fluid, I bet it's black and nasty. Replace with DOT 4
Unless you have a remote bleeder, that won't do much of anything. The entire system needs to be removed and cleaned if you haven't been keeping up with changing the clutch fluid frequently.

I'm the third owner of the vehicle so I dont know if it was well kept. I'm going to do inspection see what else needs to be fix before it cause more problems down the road. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Not so
Mine was black as death, and it took a few times and days to get it clear. Now it stays clear, Change it twice a year.
