Should the tires be rotated from side to side? Any advantage to this? Any negatives? I would imagine the tire sensors would need to be recalibrated if it is done. Just checking on the consensus on this. Thank you!
okay here is a curve ball for you all, NOT that I would
do it, but my F1 supercars say "side facing outward"
and I can't find anything about tire rotation you know
how certain directional tires are idiot proof for mounting with the arrows showing direction of rotation.
Also the tread really doesn't seem to be directional it just tapers out.
Anyways wouldn't you think you could swap them side to side?
You do not need to rotate these tires. If you feel you had to do it you would acutally have to remove the tires from the rims and swap them from side to side to keep the correct rotation directions of the tires.

The F1 Supercars are asymmetrical and can be swapped side-to-side and front-to-back, provided they are the same size. If you have a TPMS that identifies each tire's psi you would need to either reprogram or remount them keeping the wheel on the car in the same position.
Sorry to hi jack, but that is what i was thinking also

I get some front inner tread wear, no matter what the alignment, so I take mine off the rims at about 10K miles, and remount them to put the unworn portion on the inside of the other side of the car. After 20 k, they are worn pretty evenly and ready to replace.
But, along the lines of rotating non-directional tires L-R:
I know all the manuals now say it's fine, and I've done it plenty of times on my other cars.
But I've also had several tires go bad at about 30k miles, when they had enough tread left to go to 50k. Just happened on my Caddy SRX, and has happened twice on my Mercedes. Thes tires just get out of balance constantly, like the belts are moving around or something.
So, I put all-same-size tires on the SRX this time, and will allow rotating F-R instead of just L-R. Who knows?
