The car is only worth what someone else is willing to pay, especially if you need to sell in a hurry. Sorry that you have to sell now but you'll be back. Good luck.

Girl, you have buyers waiting for you in your F/S listing, if you are serious about needing to sell, then you should be answering them, especially for the pics they are asking for...

If you want it gone in 2 days then you take what you can get. In this car market it's a buyers dream and a sellers nightmare.

haha Ive tried I even put a post on cragislist and autotrader since the end of October. Failed meet ups and some change in plans on some buyers end. I was hoping to sell it by december and was sure it would for a decent price... well... december is here screaming its ugly head off. I really tried :'((((

Post some good pictures of the car here.
Also post them in the For Sale Section.
Put a phone number so buyer can call you directly.
It will sell for that price.

Lets please weigh the options here...you are going to sell your vette and buy what? A Honda civic with more miles for $5-6k? Or an American car with less miles for $5k? So really you are trading your Corvette for a piece of crap car to get $5k in cash? Sorry but I would never in a million years make that trade over $5k...but then again everything is relative and $5k isn't that much money to me. What I can tell you is $5k is not going to make even one little dent in your tuition costs and will lower your payments next to nothing. Run the numbers and find out. If the car is paid for why not get a loan on the car and then make monthly payments on it? Then you get the full $10k not just $5k, you get to keep the car, and worst case scenario you can always sell the car the same and pay off the loan with the sale funds. The vehicle will jot be upside down. To me this sounds like a case of the parents telling you to do something to get rid of a car they probably never wanted you to have in the first place. Trade my happiness over a mere $5k that I could be making payments on rather than be happy everytime I get in my car? Never going to happen in my world but then again different strokes...

I was thinking of getting a beater for 1-1.5k. I just need something to get me to and from school. Pay off some of my credit card debt so I can buy books for next quarter. Pay for the parking permit, Pay for my apt, and have enough for food and gas. I wish I had family here, it would save me tons, but thats life! I tried getting a lone against it my credit isn't all that good being a broke college student. I called that 1800 loan mart thingy with hulk hogan... pre approved for 6k then DENIED because of my credit card debt from books and food!

Six of this half a dozen of another. A beater is going to cost constant money to keep running. Get more student loans to help pay off the stuff. $10k is not a lot of money for reliable transportation any way you cut it. Especially if it makes you happy. Life is a balance between doing what is responsible and what is fun. Reality is you could die in a car accident tomorrow and there may never be a chance for you to live. This is how people end up 60 years old before they own a Corvette. Not saying there is anything wrong with that but my dad wanted a Corvette his whole life and it wasn't that he couldn't afford it he just kept waiting. The only Corvette he got to drive was the 1991 I bought right before he died. I try to remember to balance waiting with doing. Only you know what that balance will be.

I agree. but the balance for me is in the long run and not really so much during the present. I'm kinda tipping the scale towards education for these first few years then in the next few years afford another or even a better corvette... thats where I see the balance. Work smart the first few years and have fun for the rest of my life as opposed to having fun now and working the rest of my life.

Hopefully one day I can be back on the forum with a similar vette that I currently have to give up. I would love to sell it for 11,900. but debt doesn't wait and I don't want to ruin my credit. I love the corvette family, From the CLB to tech tips I always found answers here. sorry for being a sob but I love the support from this forum.
You were lucky enough to enjoy a vette early in life, and it cost you, but you did it. When you're done with school, the next one will be a C7, your lovely bride will adore you and you can tell her all about the years you first drove a vette........you may even buy her one.

Sell the Vette, pay for the immediate necessities.
How many years do you have left in med school?
During the last year or so of residency you might be able to afford another Vette (with some moonlighting).
I waited 7 years after residency, then bought what I wanted ( it was worth the wait).
Plenty of Vettes will be around when you are ready to buy, and you will be very happy!

could you talk to your bank about a loan until you can sell the vette for a good price? as a banker, I know we LOVE to lend to doctors.

also, could you take your aftermarket parts off to sell seperately? might be a bit more money in it for you.

either way, sell the car, finish school then buy what ever you want. good luck!

Sounds like you have made your decision then. Just remember reliable and beater probably aren't going to go together. I hope it works out for you the way you hope It will. It sounds like your original plans to sell the car did not go quite as you thought it would and it would suck to end up paying off cards, selling your vette, buying a beater, having it break and then have to buy another car only to be right back in the same situation only now you don't have the vette.

I would imagine that the $10K offered is about all a reseller will give you for the car - they do have to make a profit after all the defects are fixed. If you can wait a bit, try and see if you can sell it yourself - you usually come out much better.

Plus your credit card payments are going to be 2% of the balance which worst case scenario is like $200 a month. Even at a crappy rate That is $1600 a year in interest not paying any principal down. You are going to make $130k+ a year. Your student loans will be HUGE compared with that. In the scheme of the long term big picture is $1600 a year really that big a deal? That is basically what a minimum wage worker would make in one month. Look at it this way your first year you will only make $100k instead of $130k and pay off the debt .

It is all relative and I have certainly experienced my life lessons and challenges but I will tell you that even though things seem pretty bad right now the kind of money you are talking about is totally irrelevant in the scheme of your career. Good luck with the sale.

Also have you tried working and going to Med school? My wife took a condensed 14 month RN program and they scared her to death and told her she would need quit her job immediately or she would fail out of school. She worked forty hours a week the whole time and will be graduating top of her class and should be making $130k by June. Nothing is impossible, just depends on how bad you want it.
